short hair help

i have been wanting to cut my hair short for quite some time. i just haven't been sure what i wanted to do. i have brown curly hair just above my shoulders. if you have any pictures, or ideas on what i can do, please tell me. thanks.

Hi Jill,I suggest that you check out the gallery of hair styles that you can find at The Hair Boutique's web page as a start. You can also look for other hair style web pages in the links section, and you can go to your favorite book store and look at the hair styling magazines for some ideas. If you have had your hair short before, you should have some idea as to how it will behave and the extent of the curl you will have at different lengths. One suggestion I have is an all one length bob cut somewhere between your neck and the bottom of your ears. A second idea is a layer cut in which your hair is all the same length all over your head. That will really free up your natural curl--just let your hair go where it wants to. Third idea is to go shorter, perhaps tapering the back and sides and leaving the top and crown longer as you wish. Much of your decision will depend on how much length you want to cut off right now. Just remember when it's cut to allow for shrinkage from the extra curl you will get as your hair is shortened.
