Dawn.. I want to tell you what I did yesterday and today and achieved some great results. I oiled my hair down last night with Aveda's beautifying oil. I intended on washing my hair this morning, but one thing led to another..like yardwork etc. that a shower wasn't the thing to do yet. So..it ended up that I kept the oil on for almost 24 hours. I buy Nature's Gate for my husband to use and yesterday I had finally found the conditioner (herbal). So, wanting a change this time, I tried it out. The combo was great..my hair is so super soft. All afternoon I haven't been able to keep my hands off my hair.. I actually liked the smell of the conditioner. It is quite an emollient. I think with the pre-oil treatment and the nature's gate worked very well together.. you may want to try some oil in combination with it. I still will stick with my Aveda line but a change every now and then is beneficial. I had to tell you I am impressed with the Nature's Gate products. You mentioned you were onto some jojoba line? Is that also from Nature's Gate? I plan to use my Curessence every 2 weeks as a deep conditioner with the shower cap.. I also plan to sneek alittle Nature's Gate from the hubby every now and then also.. It's a great product for the buy.. I can see now why you have stuck with it so faithfully.. Cheryl

Hey Cher!So great to hear from you! I'm pleased that you liked the Nature's Gate. To tell you the truth, I'm just in love with the smell of the stuff and that's a big reason why I stick with it so faithfully. Its wonderful aromatherapy which is a big issue for me regarding shampoos. I love all things herbal and I want my hair to smell REALLY good, and I find that the original herbal conditioner stays with my hair right through till the next shampoo. Even in small amounts, I really try to stay away from anything that has any silicones, dyes (the FD&C stuff), urea, or alcohols and the Nature's Gate fits the bill in all those areas. It's got quite a compilation of herbal ingredients, rosemary, cherry bark, lots of wonderful things. Though I have always used the original herbal with its complimentary conditioner, I have recently become totally enthralled with the jojoba shampoo and its conditioner. I bought it for my husband too, but he prefers the keratin and aloe varieties so I figured I'd try it and oh how soft it has made my ends, especially the way I beat it up in the summer, lots of sun, sweat and swimming. I'm sure you'll like the jojoba variety too, especially along with the deep conditioning of the Beautifying Oil. I'm going to scarf some of the Keratin next time and maybe try the aloe too. I'll let you know how I like them. For Carol, Nature's Gate is a nice inexpensive brand with all natural ingredients that's available at most health food stores I believe, though I get mine right at the local grocery store. Its about $5 for a 16 ounce bottle which I like because I don't have to worry about how much I use, especially conditioner. Even with my hair, washing every other day (and I squirt out a BIG handful, maybe two or three handfuls of conditioner) it still lasts the better part of a month, about three weeks I guess.Good luck with your experimenting everyone, I love reading all your stories! Thanks and best wishes to all!Dawn
Dawn.. I spoke with the store manager at the one grocery store here that has a healthfood section. At first they only carried the Nature's Gate Herbal Shampoo. I got him to order the conditioner for me. But then I got going with the Curessence and didn't buy any. My husband, who keeps his hair short, usually only uses shampoo but recently he has been having problems with dry scalp. So, the last time I was in that store, I went on and picked up a bottle of the herbal conditioner. Well..like I said previously, I had to test it out! I did have the beautifying oil on also before using the Natures Gate..so I want to test it out without the pre-oil treatment. I liked the feel of the conditioner tho.. very lush. I am looking for something I can switch on and off with Aveda. The Curessence is $22. a bottle and with my thick/porous hair, that 9oz bottle only last about one month at the most. And I am at the point where I do not need that heavy of a condtioner on a daily basis now. I want to keep the Curessence for a deep conditioning treatment and get ahold of a good product for using in between times. I called the store manager today and asked him to get the Jojoba line in. I will give that a test also. What I liked about the Herbal Conditioner is that it straightened my wavy hair out. It's nice to have the change from the waves. My hair is like silk and I can't keep my hands off of it. I have used the beautifying oil many times so I cannot give it all the credit. I am anxious to test it out on it's own to see if I get the same results. I went to the Aveda store to try to find a condtioner not as heavy as Curessence to use on a daily basis and the next conditioner down is $17. a tube. I looked at the tube and figured it would last about 3 weeks. So, I am hoping to find a good second system close at hand to intermingle with Aveda that is not as expensive and hope to keep my hair in great shape. I figure to deep condition with Curessence every few weeks and that will save on going through it so often. I intend on using the rest of the Aveda line..the Phomolllient..which is wonderful and I want to try out some Witch Hazel spray. I will always try to keep the oil at hand. I just need a good back up system to spare the old pocketbook! I'll let you know what I think of the Jojoba line when I can get ahold of it.. By the way.. did you ever go for that trim? ;-) And what is going on with the subject you emailed me about awhile back? Cher>> Hey Cher!> So great to hear from you!
