From my own family's experience with gray hair, I think some people are prone to the different colors of gray hair from genes. My mom's side of the family are redheads and I have seen alot of that yellowish gray in their hair. My dad's side is darker (cherokee) and they have the silver color. But there are things you can do to the gray to help it along. Even tho I have the steel color of silver in my hair, I have tried the various shampoo's on the market for the gray hair. Mainly to help soften down my silver, not to brighten it. I went to a beauty supply store about a year ago and tried out Clariol's Shimmering Lights shampoo and conditioner. It is a good system for gray hair. It brighten my silver up alot and softened it down. It gave the rest of my hair wonderful body. Also Aveda makes a Blue Malva shampoo which I hear is good too. I have not tried it because I was cautioned that my gray hair is so silver, it may have turned it towards a blue color of gray. I know with the Shimmering LIght's..you shampoo it in and can leave it on for 5 minutes or so before rinsing. Then do the same with the conditioner. I don't use it too often because it really does brighten it up and mine doesn't need to much help that way. It maybe what you are looking for.. Hi,Yes....Blue Malva will help diminish the yellow and will highlight the silver or white. Jeff has some gorgeous silver streaks in his hair and he has had lot of luck with the Blue Malva making the silver look great.Another Hair Boutique visitor told me recently that she loves the way the Aveda Blue Malva conditioner and shampoo together gives her gray hair a lot of silver and shine. You may want to check it out.Best wishes,Karen> From my own family's experience with gray> hair, I think some people are prone to the different> colors of gray hair from genes.
