I was really looking forward to a great experience with this conditioner since so many people on this site seem to love it. Okay, I'm going to need to see pictures of your hair, I want proof because I was not impressed at all! It made my hair very puffy and light. Not smooth and silky like I expected. Also, it seemed less vibrant than normal. Weird Huh? My hair is in pretty good shape, its just very dry from coloring. It is also fine. The first time I used it just like my normal conditioner, after the Aveda Shampure. Then I blew it out straight with no other products (I wanted to see what it does all by itself) and found my hair to be very kinky and puffy. The second time I used it I put it on as a deep conditioner and let it sit for about 1 1/2 hours. Same result. This morning I had to put baby oil (I rub 1 drop between my palms) on my hair it was so dry. So I took it back. Has anyone else had the same experience? I have heard nothing but good things on this site about it, but the gal at the salon where I got it did say she had heard some women have the same experience as I did.
Sorry.. I have never heard of Curessence drying out the hair. Where I bought my first bottles of Aveda, the stylist there said he had never heard of anyone having a bad experience with Aveda. I know Aveda does bring out the natural wave of my hair but that doesn't bother me. When I want a straighter look, I use the Nature's Gate because it seems to take out the wave. But nothing I have ever used before in my life conditions my hair like Curessence. I guess it's like the old saying.. not every product is for everyone. Keep looking.. you will find something that works just as well for you. cher> I was really looking forward to a great experience> with this conditioner since so many people on> this site seem to love it. I know so many of the women here rave about Aveda, but the products did not work well on my hair. It is interesting that your hair is fine in texture and healthy and made your hair dry, and bushy. My hair is thick and predominantly straight, and Curessence made my hair feel greasy and sludge-like. A friend of mine who is a male has thick, wavy hair and Curessence made his hair like straw. I am just glad that you returned the product.
Hi Cher, I am as surprised as you are! I was really expecting a fabulous result. It is entirely possible that the individual hair strands DID have enough moisture and that the overall look just appeared dry because it was so puffy and light. Nevertheless, I just didn't get the look I had in mind. Actually, I have found a terrific product for my hair type, the KMS Silkier Reconstructor. I'll be doing a product review soon on that phenomenal product and others in the line which give a smooth, straight finish for those who are interested. Thanks for commenting on my post!> Sorry.. Hi Jade, thanks for the comment to my post. I was feeling pretty forlorn when I saw the results on my hair, as I have heard so many wonderful things about the product on this site. I posted my message because I thought there might be other people who had the same experience, and I wanted them to know they aren't just weird, that it happened to me too. : ) I am very new to the long hair thing, so it is a real experience to try and find the best products. I find that the products I used when my hair was short (products that built volume) just don't do the trick anymore for my moisture-starved, flyaway long hair. Thanks for the support!>> If you haven't seen anyone bashing Aveda,> you haven't read any of my posts. Gigi... keep looking.. and don't feel bad or weird. I have tried many, many products out there. When I first came to this board and read all the great reviews about Aveda..I was skeptical. I have tried so many products both expensive and mid line or cheap..that I hesitated for awhile. But my hair was damaged and I needed something to help asap. So, I went for it and it was marvelous. But that doesn't mean the same product that works for me will work for your hair. I have found this week that Nature's Gate works just as well on my hair as Aveda.. and with the price being a huge difference, I am very happy to find a good product I can afford better but I dont' feel the need to bash Aveda for it's expensive price. I will just use what works for me and my pocketbook. Karen has raved about Artec.. I hope to give it a test soon also.. maybe that would work better for you. When you find what works for you.. rave about it to us.. I for one love to hear when someone finds something that makes them happy about their hair. I tested a few products recently and it tangled my hair up ..my daughter used the same stuff and raved about it and said it totally agreed with her hair. We are all special. Keep looking and let us know when you find what does the trick for you. And I am glad Aveda took back the used product you were not happy with.. that shows they are a reputable company.. best regards.. Hi-I, too, finally purchased some Aveda products after reading all the rave reviews, and I wasn't that impressed, either. My hair seemed a bit dry, also, but the thing I really didn't like was the smell of the Shampure and Curessence. I have pretty sensitive skin, and I have even broke out in a rash!! So I guess Aveda is not for everyone. I hope I will be able to return the products and get my money back!! I was really looking forward to using Aveda, and it seems to be an OK product, but I can't take the smell! Too perfumey!!> Hi Cher, I am as surprised as you are!
