QuoteReplyTopic: Would be grateful for any tips... Posted: January 12 2000 at 2:10am
Hello I am new to this board and would love if any of you could give me some help with some lingering questions/problems I have about my longer than waist length fair hair.I guess what I would like help with is a product that I can use on the dry ends and also a good intensive conditioner. I have never had any luck finding one that is totally animal friendly, ie. not tested on animals or containing animal products. Anyone know of one? Also - I know it's bad - but I'd love from time to time to have my hair curly again as I used to when it was shorter and wonder if there is any such thing as a sort of bow shaped heated curler that will allow you to get the full length of the hair into the curler. I think I saw something like it on "The Nanny" once;-)Also when I go to bed I have to braid it so that it doesn't get tangled. Has anyone else any better suggestions? And also has anyone any *easy* styles that are quick to do that neaten up long hair for an office situation? Or a site where I could get ideas - or a book I could order? Many thanks in advance! Dela

I've used Queen Helene in the past as well, in conjunction with a conditioning cap and a hot steamy towel with success. I also know that quite a few people have very successfully used Aveda's Beautifying Oil (by postings) and Curessence conditioner. I haven't used the oil yet (although I plan to try it) but have tried and like Curessence. I'm pretty sure they do not do any animal testing.Used to like V05 hot oil treatments (though I'm not sure if they animal test or not). I find them a bit pricey if you like to deep condition once a week.A good way to avoid tangles at bedtime is to pin your hair up in a high bun (high enough to be above your head when you lay down). I put mine up in a nice bun or twist before bedtime while my hair is still slightly damp from the shower. When I take it down in the morning, no tangles and I get some nice body (and sometimes a bit of curl depending how tight the twist was) in my hair. Especially nice in the summer when getting your hair off of your neck is so nice and cool!Valentine :o)
