Does anybody know if Color Paneling highlighting technique done with lighter brown & blonde highlights can be done on dark brown hair? Also, how exactly is it done. I'm planning on getting my hair highlighted & I thought I'd get some info before going to salon. When they open later, I'm going to call up & describe my hair with hope I can get some answeres before I make the 30 min. drive to the salon. Any info on full head highlighting techniques for dark hair will be appreciated. Oh, & does anyone know of a site where different highlighting terms/lingo are explained?Jennifer

Yes...absolutely. Dark brown hair is a perfect base color to start with.I just sent email to an AskKaren person where I described in detail how to do this type of highlighting/lowlighting.In some places it is called Caramel Flaging and you take three different colors with variance of 2-4 shades both darker and lighter and then you design the foil patterns to layer the different colors. It turns out awesome. Very beautiful.Deb Ragl has the absolute best book on hair coloring I have ever seen. I have listed the URL where you can read the review of the book. I have used that book as my #1 reference guide on hair color. She explains the exact formulas and shows the patterns of how to alternate the foils. She explains just about every type of hair coloring technique available. If you are interested in very sophisticated color techniques for your hair....you should buy this book.I found it by accident but it is wonderful. It is great that you are calling the colorist first. It is really best, if you can do it, to have a color consultation before you let them do the highlight/lowlights. Also, a good colorist will always have a color book where you can look at the different shades and discuss your base color and what shades would work best with your skin tone and your eyes.To have three colors like you want will be expensive compared to just a cap highlight with one color. However, if done correctly, the roots will blend in with the three colors as they grow and it can be maintained easier.I am thinking of looking into the three color process myself. Right now I only have highlights applied but I love the depth, shine and beauty of the multi colors.Hope this helps.Best wishes.
