QuoteReplyTopic: SPLITTING Posted: January 12 2000 at 2:16am
hi,my parents only let me trim once a year, but I sneak in a 3 inch trim about every 4 months, my hair doesn't split very easily but lately it has been splitting a lot. My hair is down to my waist. It is sort of wavy, a little puffy/frizzy and dark. The last time I REALLY trimmed it, it came out perfect, the thing is, the shorter I go, it doesn't grow fast enough until the split ends start popping up. What can I do to keep my hair healthy until it grows out? Also, is there any way I can trim my hair, by myself without it coming out all crooked? I don't know anyone else who would trim it for me. My cousin Lisa did last time, but she lives far from here. Just so you know the whole story;
Snip those splits off as soon as you see them. If you do this regularly the edge shouldn't get too ragged looking because you are cutting such a tiny length off. Regular maintenance prevents splits from becoming bigger and yearly trims might all that you require. A lot of spits suggests to me that the ends are too dry. Lightly oil the ends with jojoba. If dryness is not an issue then review you hair care habits to see if something else is causing splits.
Oops, I forgot to add you are snipping the splits either one at a time or a section at a time. To do a section take a small section of hair and twist it 'round, the ends will pop out and you can trim them faster. I do them one by one usually during the sports section of the news.

This was before I remembered to look at my message for responses. And it turned out fine, but uneven, So I brought it to the side and cut it slanted hoping that it would even out when I threw it back, unfortunately it looked really horrible, I need to straighten it and I'll do that twist thing, but If I cut it any more, my parents will notice, But then i can't go to school like this! Oh well, I just wanted to thank you for your advice and I'll try it as soon as I get off the computer.
The jojoba suggestion is very good. You can feel how good it is for your hair when you apply it, last thing. I don't rinse it out (IS THAT RIGHT? AM I MISLEADING THIS WOMAN?), but I only use it on the last 4-5 inches of my hair, too. Technically, I believe it's a very liquid wax, but you try it and see how it feels. Wow!I've never even tried to cut my own hair because my imagination told me I'd screw it up. All you need is sharp scissors, and someone you can trust who has a steady hand and a good eye.I know, easier said than done. Don't forget that guys can do this! My husband cuts my hair every 6 months or so. Usually about 1-11/2 inches of raggedy ends come off.Think over the people you know. How about an old lady friend? Just has to be someone you can trust. You don't have to be able to trust them with your life. Just your hair.Am I in trouble with your folks? Good Success RunningWild
You are not misleading anyone.I use it whenever and where ever my hair feels dry. Sometimes I oil my hair and scalp before I wash my hair - it really does feel nice. I also use it as a detangler. Just recently I've been adding rosmary essential oil (a few drops) to the jojoba. I like the smell.I have also started including flax seed in my diet. I know it does wonders for the coats on my animals so I thought why not try it on me? I'll post if and when there are perceptible results.> The jojoba suggestion is very good. > Where can I get jojoba? I've never heard> of it.> DebbieHi Debbie, I got my jojoba from a market called Whole foods. I'm not sure what area you live in, I'm from California. The store used to be called Mrs. Gooch's.Leslie
Any health food store should have it. It is usually sold as a carrier (base) oil for use in massage.> Where can I get jojoba? I've never heard> of it.> Debbie
