When I was 17 I chopped all my hair off into a bob and ever since has never really got any longer because as soon as it starts getting to a certain length it goes mad - for a start my hair grows in a funny directon on one side. I just want to have lovely long hair again - someone please help!!!

I have been there Becky. I had long hair growing up and starting cutting it short when I was sixteen. I actually have a piece in the back that grows sideways instead of down. Once it is long enough the weight of the hair pulls it down. I am just in the process of growing it long again. Unfortunately if your hair is anything like mine you are just going to have to suffer through the bad stages. Fortunately there are alot of hair accessories. Visit your local Walmart or other store with a large selection of cheap hair accessories and stock up. You could be wearing your hair up for as long as a year depending on your hair length. Check out magazines and see how the models are wearing their hair up and back. Condition your hair lots and as some one on this board once said (sorry I forgot who) treat your hair like fine fabric. Pamper it and let it grow and before your know it your hair willbe long again.> When I was 17 I chopped all my hair off into> a bob and ever since has never really got any> longer because as soon as it starts getting to> a certain length it goes mad - for a start my> hair grows in a funny directon on one side. Hi, Kira,I was interested in some of the dietary tips you posted a couple of months for hair health (and general health as well). I was wondering if you follow that diet on a daily basis, and are you also doing it to lose weight? If so, has it helped? Also, you mentioned that exercise helps your hair grow and be healthier. What kind of exercise do you partake in, and do you really feel it helps your hair. (Also, what do you do in the winter?) I appreciate your posts. Thanks, Clare> Hi Kira,> I was just thinking about you and wondering> how you were and there was your post. So good> to see you and just wanted to say hi. :-)> Karen

I'll take it out again when my house is dry and functional. I still check in when I have some breaks at work. Love your site. I'm an addict.PS My hair is quickly approaching my shoulders! Thank you for this board!Kira

Hi Clare,Sorry that it has taken me so long to respond to your post. Unfortunately my toilet tank broke and flooded my house and I have been living in renovation hell.I have become a really firm believer in following a good diet. I had a big problem with hair loss just over a year ago which led me to the decision to cut all of my then mid back length hair off and start again. I was following a vegetarian diet but not a very balanced one. Most of the protein I was getting was from milk chocolate, ice cream, and cheezies. I started reserching nutrition. I started following a diet full of fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, soy products and fatty fish (salmon, tuna, makeral, etc.). I also made a shake which I drank almost daily which consisted of:1 tbl kelp1 tbl alfalfa powder1 tsp bee pollen1 tbl wheat germ1 tbl silica1 bananapineapple juiceAfter about 4 weeks I noticed that my energy really had incresed and after about six weeks I noticed that my hair was starting to grow faster. My freinds started to comment that my hair was growing faster and thicker. My weight loss is a combination of diet and excercise. Before I started eating better I was excercising, but wasn't making any gains. My weight was staying about the same and my shape was staying about the same. When I started eating better and more often (3 meals + 2-3 snacks) my metabolism incresed and I had more energy, slept less and my shape changed. I gained more muscle and lost more fat. I personally love running, biking, hiking and X-county + alpine skiing. But I don't really think it matters what you do. It only matters that you do something that you love so that you enjoy it and keep doing it. Life isn't supposed to be about doing things that you don't like (my opinion). I really think that excercise has helped my hair growth. It increases blood flow to all parts of your body including your hair follicles.Hope some of this has helped. Sorry for rambling.Happy growing.Kira

> Clare,Does it taste like a hot fudge sundae? Unfortunately not, although I am still trying :-) ! It doesn't taste bad. The pineapple juice and bananas make it taste pretty good. Experiment. Try other fruits, juices, milk, etc. until you come up with something that tastes good to you.Have fun creating!Kira.
