Hi Everyone....Watch out. I can't sleep. That means lots of Hair Talk messages. :-)OK...here is something I tried today that really worked well.My hair was feeling dryish from the change of seasons. So I washed my hair (Aveda Shampure) and conditioned it (Aveda Curessence) and then did my normal cold water rinse (brrrrr) and then towel blotted it, picked it straight and used a blow dryer on the bangs only.I applied just a dab of Aveda's Beautifying Oil to the ends of my hair and then wrapped the whole thing into a soft loose French bun and popped in my favorite hair sticks. The bun stayed up all day and my hair was actually "cooking" with the Beautifying Oil on the ends. The cool thing was that my hair did not look oily or strange because the ends were neatly tucked into the bun and hidden.I wore Dawn's new hair sticks that are small and delicate and have tiny hand painted balls on the end. They looked good with my business attire. Dressy but not too dressy. When I took my hair out of the bun tonite it felt really soft and silky and the oil had soaked into the ends of my hair all day. It was very cool.No big deal. Just something to share in my night prowlings. :-)Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.Karen

Last week when on our boat I rubbed the beautifying oil all over my hair except my feathers in front. I then frenchbraided my hair and enjoyed the day on the water. Even with a few swims the oil stayed in well. That night I washed my hair as usual and it was super soft. Aveda's oil is fabulous in my opinion. And tho a small bottle it seems to last forever.. The cool thing was that my hair did not look> oily or strange because the ends were neatly tucked> into the bun and hidden.Oh, this is a great idea! I'll have to remember that for days when I don't have time to leave oil in very long.> I wore Dawn's new hair sticks that are small and> delicate and have tiny hand painted balls on the end.> They looked good with my business attire. Dressy but> not too dressy.Hints about interesting things to come...Actually, it's funny that you mentioned the oil-all-day thing today - right after I got up this morning, I put oil on my hair. I've spent the whole day at home for a change, cleaning the bathroom (always a favorite chore - NOT) and preparing for classes next week, so I've just left it in.Since I've had such a stressful week, and since I have such a good start with the oil already, I decided I'm going to really relax and spoil myself tonight. I'm going to do all the things I never have time to do - actually sit in the bath and read, do something about my nails, use a masque on my face, take time to really moisturize my skin to deal with the change in the weather (It has been so DRY here lately!), etc. I'm sure no one will recognize me tomorrow!Laura Janelswanson@sunflower.bio.indiana.edu

I did that to myself last night.. the face mask etc. It makes you feel like a new person to spoil yourself every once in awhile. I washed my hair last night with Aveda's shampure then used NG's Jojoba conditioner. My hair had great texture today..couldn't keep my hands off of it. Here that Dawn? I didn't use matching shampoo/conditioner and it did great!:-) adieu.. Cher~

Just mentioned that to give her an idea maybe to experiment.. No ill will intended at all Dawn.. :-) Cher~

Oh sure, go ahead and mock me for being a pawn of the shampoo manufacturers and a slave to my habits!(You didn't really have to qualify your jibe, I knew you were just kidding!)Finally came in off that new boat did you?Best wishes to you despite your unwarranted attacks on my hair care regimen! ; )Dawn> P.S.. It's just now when I go to mix up shampoos/conditioners I wonder if I am doing the right thing.. you have put a guilt trip on me.. hehe.. No seriously, I was just praising the Jojoba conditioner and it did do wonderfully with Shampure. Usually tho when using NG, I stick with the coupled products. I like keeping the fragrances matched since they are so bold. I ran out of Curessence so NG filled in with Shampure. And I was happy with the results. And reluctantly, I came in off the boat.. As dark as I am getting in just the 5 weeks we have had the boat, I shudder thinking about next season. My Cherokee blood is showing it's colors.. I will have to start doing research on skin care products for sun dwellers.. adieu.. Cher~

Hi Cher...I agree. So many people freak when they find out the price, but as Noreen...by the way...where has she been lately?.....talks about Beautifying Oil she points out how long it last her and we know how much hair she has to use it on.I generally keep a bottle for months and months. Sometimes I will mix a little of the Beautifying with olive oil although I actually prefer the Beautifying straight.By the way Cher...do you still do the Curessence hot towel trick?Take care. Still enjoying that boat?Hugs,Karen> Good idea.. The oil does a super job on those ends for> sure! Still enjoying that boat?> Hugs,> KarenActually I went to buy some Curessence awhile back and the salon was out of it.. I haven't been back by there yet but plan to stock up on hair products next week. I have been leaving the NG on for extended periods..like 15-20 minutes and it seems to be keeping my hair is fine shape. But I still want to do the extended treatments with Curessence, especially during the dry winter months. My husband measured my hair the other day and it's at 16.5 inches now. Calculating what I had cut off in June, we figured my hair is growing 3/4" per month. Not too bad.I am not planning on a trim anytime soon.. just letting it grow for now. I either wear it up in a bun or frenchbraid it with one of Dawn's ties at the end.. very happy with these two styles.. especially with all the gray coming in! And concerning the boat.. we are all whining about the cooler air settling in here in Virginia.. Cher~
