I went today to get some Aveda products. I bought a bottle of Curessence and a bottle of Shampure. The stylist there was really pushing the new brilliance line. Karen have you had a chance to test any of these out yet? I declined to try some. I felt I would still stick with what I knew worked great on my hair. They said also that Aveda has come out with a new shampoo for curly hair. Since I do not have curly hair I didn't give it much attention but for those who do...Aveda has a new shampoo out just for you. Cher~

Hi, Cher!I bought the Brilliance line when it first came out. I found the shampoo to be alot like Shampure... no real difference to me, which means I like them both! The conditioner didn't seem to be anymore effective than my favorite, Curessence. What I really don't like is the leave-in thermal conditioner. It left my hair greasy and stringy... I'll stick with my old favorite, Elixir. By the way, I have wavy hair just above my waist. Detangling is always a problem for me, which is why I was drawn to the line. The best detangler I've ever found (still) however, is Lousie-Marie Longhair's Magic Conditioning Spray. I usually use that before the Aveda Elixir.Just my two cents!Take care,Jen

I thought the styling curesence was a leave in conditioner also. I have used one bottle of it and really didn't feel the need to get another. I am hooked on the Phomollient and use that after washing to give control and it seems to be very hair friendly. I cannot put too much onto my hair because I experience build up quickly and do not like to wash my hair anymore than 2-3 times per week. Tonight I used the regular Curessence. I left it on for about a half an hour. As always it gives me a wonderful conditioning treatment like no other. I use Nature's Gate also which does very well on my hair. Aveda is just so expensive.. I had to find a second good alternative to switch back and forth with to be easier on my wallet. Also I have found if I do switch back and forth my hair does much better. It takes the best from both brands each time I switch.. thanks for your feedback on the Brilliance line.. Cher~

Hi Cher...Funny you should ask. I ordered some from WW Beauty Store and just got a note from Ace letting me know I should get it in a day or so. I am anxious to try it.I have not heard anything about the curly hair product. Sometimes Aveda releases new products by region. I would love to hear more about it.I am really behind in my product reviews. I will be going to a business conference for about 10 days coming up and I plan on using the plane times to get caught up. :-)I will let you know about the new Aveda Brilliance. I did hear that it may have a higher concentration of "cones" than their other products. I don't know since I have not seen the product yet.I will tell you that I have been using the Nature's Gate Chamomile conditioner because I am temporarily out of Curessence and Deep Penetrating and I glop lots of it on like Dawn suggested and it is really pretty good. I must tell you that I don't like the effect of the shampoo + the conditioner but I like the shampoo used separately and paired with Curessence and Aveda's Shampure paired with the conditioner. This is just the Chamomile version of Nature's Gate. I have not tried any of the other formulas yet. But I plan to.Thanks for asking about the new Brilliance. :-)Karen> I went today to get some Aveda products. I bought a> bottle of Curessence and a bottle of Shampure. I've never used the Styling Curessence, so I'm afraid I can't comment on that one. The Elixir is a thinner leave in than the Brilliance Thermal and is easier to distribute. I like it because sometimes I have to blow dry and it's supposed to protect from heat damage.
>Hello. I have curly, color damaged hair just past my shoulders, and I am trying to grow out the damage while also growing my hair longer. It has been a very difficult past few months, and I will try just about anything to improve the condition of my hair. I bought the Aura elixir hoping it would be like the Aveda elixir. I never tried the Aveda one, but the Aura one was only 3.15 at Boston Beauty Supply. It did not make my hair any easier to detangle after shampoo. Is the Aveda one like this, too? My hair hasn't dried yet, so I will see what happens. Has anybody else tried the Aura line? Also, I noticed that the Aura elixir contains silicone. Does the Aveda, too?
Oh, I love LM's Magic Spray! My hair is not as long as yours but I'm working on it. As soon as my hair get's past my sholders it starts to tangle and Magic Spray is the best thing I've found for it. It make's my hair so soft and get's rid of static, too. - Johannah

I used shampure and the Jojoba conditioner with very good results. What do you not like about the effects of NG when used in conjuction with each other?Just curious for your feedback. I had hoped to get up north to get some more varieties of NG but alas I have company coming now and can't make it.. but as soon as I can I want to try a few of the others. Last night I used the Curessence and left it on for about an half hour.. got wonderful results as usual.. Cher~
We have discussed this one a few months back. A few of us tested out AURA and found out that it tangles our hair. One poster said she liked it but Karen, Jeff and I all experienced tangles. Aveda is not like this at all. My own personal experiences with Aveda have been super postive. You may want to try buying the Shampure (shampoo) and the Curessence conditioner. They sure helped my hair when I was recovering from environmental hair damage.. sun and water. I leave the Curessence on for extended periods.. up to 4 hours so far. And if you can add some heat.. like a warmed towel.. that will help alot. AURA is a copycat of Aveda but not in anyways rated equal in quality. Good luck and keep us posted.. Cher~
