QuoteReplyTopic: PLEASE! CHOCOLATE BROWN COLOUR!!!!!! Posted: January 12 2000 at 3:37am
I dye my naturally medium brown hair a colour called "Sable Cove" by "Hydriance". It is supposed to be a dark brown but it turns out to be black on my hair. I really want a dark, chocolate brown colour and I want to know if I can gradually change the colour myself by dying it a few lighter shades each time I dye it. Or, do I have to go to the salon, get the colour removed, and get it dyed to the desired shade?? Please help! Arianna
Please note, I am NOT a stylist and the following is just my experience, YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary). I have not had problems going 1/2 to 1 shade lighter or darker provided I kept to the same tones,ie., goldens to goldens and ashes to ashes. As long as you haven't done anything crazy and are just adjusting the shade of brown slightly, you should have no problem. Keep in mind though that the brown will probably fade a bit on its own in a week or two, so you may want to wait before you make a decision. Also, home haircolors generally have a hotline that you can call, I know that Clairol has a very good one. And they will even give you advice on mixing your own colors if you want to.
Dear Arianna,For as long as I can remember, I always considered my natural hair color to be a medium brown (and I dyed accordingly). However, upon going to a VERY reputabe haircstylist, she analyzed my root area and said that I am naturally a very dark BLONDE! She said that people really tend to believe that theier hair is MUCH darker than it actually is. Anyway, at that point she used a color restorer and brought me to my desired shade of brown (I now highlight and I love the golden effect). After, I kept up the haircolor at home by using a light golden brown-- never in my wildest imagination had I ever thought that a LIGHT brown would do the trick-- but it did-- with rich, soft color. My stylist also said that people don't realize that the color medium brown IS very dark-- with dark brown appearing black to the untrained eye. I hope that this helps!Sherry> I dye my naturally medium brown hair a colour called> "Sable Cove" by "Hydriance". It is> supposed to be a dark brown but it turns out to be> black on my hair.
