Maybe a little spot teasing (gentle, of course!), or a volumizing product? I was fighting my hair forever, trying to get it more "lively" without looking like it was out of a big hair salon. Finally I've learned to love it as it is -- straight and fine. I do a little root teasing when I feel I need some lift, and this helps a great deal. Blowdrying it upside down with a cool hair dryer setting has helped a bit, too.Good luck!
Begin with a volumizing styling product like Paul Mitchell Volumizing spray. Something that is intended for use at the roots. Spray on part area and massage in to distribute. Move part and apply there and so on untill you have some in the places you need the volume, namely the top of your head. Gently dry the root area of your hair, lifting the hair with a volumizing comb. (fat teeth, like a pick) Then, diffuse dry the rest of your hair, or if you don't have a diffuser, just dry it gently using your hands to hold the hair preventing it from blowing around freely. After the hair is dry, use a hot air brush, "kurlmi" is ideal for not getting tangled up in long hair. Starting at the top, section at a time warm the hair with the hot air brush while rolling at the roots for volume, and continuing down to ends. When the section is warm, put it on a jumbo velcro roller to hold in place as it cools. Continue untill all the hair is on rollers. (Probably about 8 rollers) A minute or two later, gently remove the rollers if the hair is cool to the touch and shake the hair into place with you fingers. Use hairspray to keep the chunky tossled texture. Viola! you now have "Pamela Anderson" hair only longer. Better make a shopping list! :)
Hey thank you both for the awesome tips!! H. Taylor, it is going to be hard for me to accentuate the sleekiness of my hair.... to tell you the truth, my hair is really really dull. Another thing, my mom has been telling me and I now notice that my flat hair is starting to make my pretty face drag down and look really really bad. I love my long hair, but it's flatness is really getting bad. I really need some more tips, so you out there that is reading this, please help me!! My hair is brown, dull, long, layered, heavy that weighs down, FLAT, and very very stringy! PLEASE PLEASE HELP AGAIN!!!! THANKS!

THANKS!Taylor,Think about the possibility of having a 'soft' natural looking perm done to your 'flat' locks. I do this type of perm for exactly the same reason you are describing all the time. Post a detailed description of your hair, texture, coloring history, etc and I will post detailed instructions of how to achieve this perm for your stylist. william

PLEASE HELP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!> THANKS!!!Hi Taylor,You probably don't want to hear this one, but part of the reason your hair is flat and/or stringy at times may be because it is just too long. You might think about getting a few inches cut off to lessen the weight of it if you would like fuller hair. Also, if the color is too drab for you (and I have natural ash brown colored hair so I know what you mean)you could also get a little color put into it...like blonde highlights, etc. Even just a few highlights around the face brighten you up. Plus, the color helps plump up your hair too so it adds some body, plus the color brightens up your face. You will probably want to get volumizing products for your hair too. I love, love, love Artec's Volumizing Gel. It's terrific for my hair, which is a little past the shoulders, lightly layered and very straight. This gel is one of the few products I've used that works like a dream giving my hair fullness, yet doesn't leave it with a sticky, coated feeling. Hope some of this helps! Kelly F.
