Hi everyone!I'm sure that by now most people are aware of the "new" Ultra-V Pantene that has hit the market. Well, I have a little experience to share with you all. Due to my husbands crazy shift work, I spent the last four days with my mother. Now although I usually use ARTec Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner, I decided to leave it home and savew some packing room. My mother, a Pantene user from way back, had just resupplied her shower with the "new" Pantene. She had the Shampoo and Cond. in one for dry hair and the daily treatment for dry hair (as normmally). Anyway, the first thing I noticed was the new smell. No lie-- it smells just like the cat box deoderizer from Glade that I use in my kitty's box. I even had mom compare the two and she agreed. Next, I noticed that the ingred. were somewhat different, mostly less silicone and Ammonium Xylenosulfate has move to last on the list. Anyway, I used this stuff for four days and by the fourth day I had had enough! My hair was frizzy and rough! I have used the old Pantene before and had never had a problem (actually I loved the smell of the original and how it lingered all day), but this new stuff is aweful. Now, what gets me is why Procter and Gamble would want to change ANYTHING about the #1 selling shampoo out there? Again, although I have always chosen salon brands over drug store products, I always enjoyed an occasional shampoo with one of my favorite childhood scents! Too bad Pantene :( -- you had it all together at one time!Sherry

Hi Sherry,Thanks for sharing. I was very curiose about these product and am glad I did not buy them. I think the reason P&G changed the formula is because some people were complaing that the origional formula caused buildup. That's why many of the ultra-V products say 'shampoo only'. This is the same thinking that created the new neutogena 'clean' products. What always tempts me about pantene is how shiny the hair in the adds look. I want that so bad. I'm sick about hearing about products that soften hair. I just want shine. O.K., I'm rambling now but this is one of my favorite subjects.

Serena, have you tried Citre Shine? I haven't seen any threads on the list about it, but I had great luck using it in getting my hair to shine. An ex-boyfriend actually introduced me to it, and one of the first things I mentally commented on upon originally meeting him was his fantastic hair! He had dark hair that positively shone, and he attributed it to this brand of shampoo and conditioner. I have blonde hair and it truly shone, too, while I was using the volumizing line. Please know I didn't quit using Citre Shine for lack of result. . .there are just so many products out there that I want to try! :)

Hi,I just wanted to comment on those ads for Pantene..I really do think it's special t.v. lightins that make the extra shine on the hair in the ads..and it has been commented on that that's exactly what it is in hair magagzines articles.I'm sure it makes hair shiny (at least for awhile before the buildup and dryness start happenning) but to anyone who realistically expects it to have THAT much shine as in the ads really should not look for it to happen because it's the expertise of television and photographic lights, not the actual products. Just thought this would help save people time and money! I am a former Pantene junkie, and my hair was very shiny too, but not as shiny as the adswould have you think your hair will be.

Dear H. Taylor,I too have used Citre Shine and it is one of my favorite laminates. I am not at all crazy about the shampoo, I prefer salon brands, but I love the Hair Polisher. Also, in regard to the shine in the Pantene adds, it's so tru what Holly said, its the lights. Think about how your hair shines when you are out on the beach or something. It also probably helps that those models have super straight hair and on top of that the commercial stylists probably use tons of shine enhancing spary. There is a film out there, it is about 10-15 years old, but it is called "Thirty Second Seduction" and it is about the stuff that commercials do to sell their products. For instance, regular milk has a blue tinge when on camera, so Elmer's Glue is used instead!Sherry> Serena, have you tried Citre Shine? Sherry, you are so right! I really despise the majority of hair product commercials. Use Pantene and you can look like a model. . .at least until the build-up gets to you. Use Organic Essences and you'll tingle all over! (I'm trying to keep it clean!) Use Salon Selectives and you can flip your hair around while causing men, women, children, and animals to ask, "Who's that lady?" Use Finesse and you can cause your man to do stupid things when he realizes that you can't keep your hands off your own hair. UGH! That's why I looooove the Purina (at least I think it's Purina) commercial where you see hands brushing through gorgeous hair and a voice asks something along the lines of, "How do you get hair this silky, this shiny, this healthy? FEED YOUR DOG PURINA." It's such a mockery of the commercials I just mentioned -- it makes me laugh every time!
