I've heard a lot about trimming the hair before it splits all the way to the hair shaft, but what happens after that?I know this is a dumb question... Does it fall out or what? What if there is no possible way you can trim your hair at this point? Then what do you do? Also, I have a lot of split ends, but I live with my aunt and uncle who won't let me trim or cut my hair. I sneak in a few trims here and there but eventually they notice and punish me.because I can't trim my hair, and I have a lot of split ends, what can I do to take care of that problem?

Take a lock of hair and twist it. the ends will poke out the side of the twist. Trim just the splits that you see. It takes longer this way but you get more splits and it's less noticeable.I have some whiskers that split all the way down to the follicle. I just found out that sometimes multiple hair buds grow simultaneously in one pore. This is confirmed by some of my whiskers which split uncontrollably early on and look more like multiple hairs (up to a couple dozen) coming from a single pore loosely connected to each other. They split all the way down yet remain attached. I think this is different than a split resulting from damage which tends to shear off closer to the location of the damage. If you think of it, there is a simple reason for this. A hair is basically round. Now suppose a split started right down the middle of a hair. Well if the split varied to one side or the other, the distance across the hair will be reduced, making it easier to split. The split (tear) continues to edge toward one side of the hair for this reason. A hair that is splitting because of actually being two loosely bonded separate hairs will split all the way down because the loose bond between them is easier to break than a split down either one. You might also get splits all the way down if your hairs are shaped like ribbons. This would tend to be curly hair.
