I have meduim/dark brown hair. I would liket o put highlights into my hair. About 5 years ago I had honey color put in but I do not want to spend about 100 dollars again. Any special store products anyone would recommend. Email me the answers.
First of all I wouldn't recommend highlighting at home (at 15 I've already done at least three BAD screw ups) But then again, there are definetley hair dressers who don't know what they're doing!:)If your hair colour is fairly even, I would recommend Clairol Hydrience Streaking Kit, with the cap, and when its done right it looks really good. You can also but a box of colour, and apply it to the strands you want coloured with out using the cap. Whatever you do be CAREFUL!!!! Ask the lady in the drug store to help find the right colour for your hair.
Bug,Hi there! i know that you probably do not want to hear this, but I must say it anyway-- please don't try to do your highlights at home. I have dark blonde to light brown hair, and as skilled as I would like to think I am concerning hair and hair products, i have NEVER had salon highlighting results using a home kit. Now, let me tell you why-- the store kits use straight bleach. They do not add anti-red and anti-gold to the mixture-- the stuff that goes on my head at the salon is purplish in color because of the "anti" red/gold that is added. Also, the kits are harsh! My colorist actually uses a color to get my highlights-- and my hair is in GREAT condition! I know that $100 dollars is a lot (that is what I spend too) but the results are worth it-- besides, you know how your colorist weaves the hair out and puts it in the foil-- that is key, and I ask you, how are you going to do that at home? I recently (three weeks ago) used Hydrience highlights and had a timing problem...and my hair was yellow (normally medium blonde).....I was able to correct it with help from the Clairol hotline. Timing is key, and with darker hair, I would probably go to the salon.
Yeah I totally agree with you that the timin is key, which isn't easy when your not a proffesional!! ANyone's best bet is to go to the salon!!!! Your lucky the clairol hotline helped correct your mistake!!
