Has anyone ever used/heard of a natural hair straightening product called Copa? I saw it in those late night infomercials and it looked really good for people w/ curly hair, esp. Black folks, but I remember that Rio thing!!! Does anyone have any experiences w/ this product?Anita

> I saw that also. It is too new for me to try. My girlfriend used Rio and all of her hair started comming out in clumps. She had to cut it in a jada pickett style. She was miserable for a whole year. She eventually had extentions added in the back.>

Run, Run I say from Copa, or Rio. It is the same formula, pretty much, and will do you the same way that Rio did people. I know that more ease with combing and styling hair. I am growing my relaxer out, and now i have genuinely curly hair. Very curly hair. Some one suggested a texturizer to loosen the curl. I thinkit's Called Volumaxx. You can get it at Sally's Beauty Supply.

I saw the infomercial too. I am also a victim of Rio. My hair did not fall out with applying Rio. It made it hard and brittle when moisture hit it though. When I relaxed over it, it fell out. This Copa product claims to be 90% natural. The activating ingredient in it is sodium thiosulfate. It also has ammonium cloride and ammonium chloride in it. I am researching all I can about these ingredients and what will happen should I apply them to my hair. I contacted the company, and they claim to be in no way, no how, never associated with Rio. They are even sending me a sample. I am looking for a chemist to check it out. Meanwhile, I will continue to search for a way to have nice, healthy, manageable hair without resorting to harsh chemicals. I keep you posted on what I find out.

>I am also a victim of Rio.Ouch! I know that must've been traumatic! :0(>The activating ingredient in it is> sodium thiosulfate.Yes, have heard for this ingredient (it's called Thio for short). Its supposed to be used in some of the relaxer type of products, but if it is only 10% or less of the whole product I can see why they say it has a gradual but permanant straightening (or just loosening up the curl) effect.>I am researching all I can>about these ingredients and what will happen should I>apply them to my hair. You can email me at jamaraa@hotmail.com. BTW, they were supposed to have a website for Copa, but I couldn't find it. Do you have the URL? If so, please post it. Thanks so much for the info and research and I'm looking forward to your findings.Anita
