Help, my hair is driving me crazy! I had my hair highlighted and weaved two months ago, the hairdresser had been doing it for almost a year and wham she over highlighted and processed my whole head, I'm naturally medium brown, I had dyed my hair with permanent hair dye before we started the highlight process a year ago, I looked horrible the last visit two months ago I'm defitnally not a blond person! Well to get back to light brown, they filled in with red as a filler and then after blotting it off, they placed light brown over this, it took in some places dark almost black brown, and it didn't take in some areas the blond was still there and in other areas just dull brown, well it faded and my gray showed through, I'm gray around the temples and somewhat on the scalp, so I called the Clairol hotline and they told me to try the Light Brown again, well it still way too dark in some places, she said to wait until my four weeks are up and we will revaluate what shape and color my hair is in, what should I do until this time? What causes the darkness? And I don't want to go back to a salon, I'm still afraid, of it being ruin't again plus the money. Iv'e spent well into the $$$ this last year and its hard to find a hairdresser that knows how to work on someone that has thick course frizzy hair, Claroil said that it maybe a grabbing problem with the light brown, and I need to try dark blond? to lighten it up. Any help would be appreciated, TIA for letting me rant on! Sunnie

SunnieTo Sunnie; The 'over darkened' results you speak of is caused by a 'over deposited' or grabbing of the color by your hair. This is a result of it being extra porous because of previous colorings. This should have been compensated for by varying the timing or application of a protein filler to reduce this problem. You have had so many processes done to your hair that no matter what, you should start an intensive conditioning program right away. Probably the next step is to 'strip' all the different colors from the hair and use 'deposit only' colors to tone back to the desired levels, probably using ash shades to mute the red/golds that will want to show up in all of the 'highlighted hair'. Probably a level 6, and a level 8 ash blondes will deposit about the right color. Adjust timing or intermixing of the formula to get the results that you want. Strand testing is the only way to tell for sure. I will just about bet the bank that your stylist did NOT do a proper strand test before your last experience. The 'spots' where the color is uneven is often caused by not having enough color mixture to evenly saturate the hair. This is a common mistake, if you have waist length hair that is very thick, it may take3-4 times the normal amount of product, because you have 3-4 times the "normal" amount of hair. william

William or anyone who can help:I recently tried a home kit about 4 months ago that would lighten my medium to dark blond hair to lighter. The result was a strawberry blonde color that I did not want. I have tried getting it fixed at a salon 3 different times and still have had no results. The latest effort resulted in my hair being a dishwater brown which is not my natural color. I'm more of a moussy blonde.A couple of questions:1. The second time they corrected my hair, they stripped it down and brought it down to a nice color. The problem was that the color majorly faded within just a few weeks and the red was back. Would it be too much to get it stripped again if it has only been 3 months? They used something less harsh than ammonia.2. What can I do to get the red out of my hair without it turning my hair to dark blonde? People tell me my hair looks like my golden retriever's and I really want to get it back to my normal color.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.JT
