First has anyone heard of or used Wanakee products or evenvisited her website. I found some interesting tips and havebeen thinking of ordering her products. My hair is dry and the ends split easy and yes I have abreakage problem. My hair is to my check and is a little longer in the back a little past my neck it seems to grow like that.Anyway I have been trying to grow my hair out for three years. I recently cut my ends but I still see splits can I preserve those or should I cut them off. Basically what canI do to get it to grow. Thanks for any help you can give.

> First has anyone heard of or used Wanakee products or> even> visited her website.Yes, I have done both. Her site is wonderful and the products are great. I personally like her Verifen Complex Advanced conditioner (I'm not sure that this is the proper name). I didn't like her Moisture Enriched line though, but try both to see what you like best.>I found some interesting tips and> have> been thinking of ordering her products.I recommend that you try them.> My hair is dry and the ends split easy and yes I have> a> breakage problem. You know what you need to do? Be SURE to get some of her Oil for Ends! That stuff is expensive, but great...it'll last you a long time though. The Hair oil is quite nice too.>can I preserve those or should I cut them off.Well, that really depends on how damaged your ends are. If you feel that they don't look or feel healthy at all, then cut them. However, I would try this oil for the ends and her other tips 1st before cutting.>Basically what can>I do to get it to grow.I have found that keeping it up as much as possible, taking care w/ ends (when drying and by oiling them), and always taking care when combing or brushing really helps. Take vitamins daily as well. BTW, have you ever considered taking Viviscal for hair growth? IMHO, it really can't hurt much (except your wallet) to try it.> Thanks for any help you can give.No prob...I hope what I said helped you some.Anita

> Thank you so much Anita for your responce it ishelpful and I am trying to order Wanakee productsnow.I have heard of viviscal and yes it is expensive and theysay you will need to take it at least six months for itto work and that is about $400.00. I know I want myhair to grow but that is alot of money. Are you taking itand if so does it work?I was wondering though when you say take vitamins what typea multi or do you recommend something specifcally for thegrowth of hair and nails that GNC sells.By the way I was wondering if you were a sister not thatit matters but I just want to know if we have similarhair type. I am African American/Spanish and I know someproducts just are not for my hair.Well anyway thanks so much for your input.Good luck to you.

I have visited her site, and used her products. I got he basic line, which is the verifen complex shampoo and conditioner, the oil, the hairline crème, and I ordered the just for ends complex. I was NOT impressed with the results. The shampoo and conditioner left her hair-lacking moisture. In addition, the hairline crème and the ends crème were very greasy. For my hair that’s a stretch. I have hair that sucks oil and grease for days, but the Wanakee stuff just lays there on my scalp and hair. I did not like the products and sent them back. That was about $75.Some suggestions, b/c I was where you are now about 3 months ago. I personally am growing out my relaxer for my own reasons. You do not have top do this. Anita was right oil your ends, and wear your hair in protective styles. I use jojoba oil that I bought from a health food store. I mix it with other essential oils when needed, but that’s what I use on my and my 1 yr old daughter’s head (that way I don’t have to worry about preservatives and such). I actively started to deep condition with hot oil treatments (coconut oil, olive oil, and safflower oil – all of which can be bought in health stores or grocery stores for some). For moisture I use a product called Parnevue leave in conditioner.I started with a small trim 1/8”. And every three weeks I trimmed again. I did this until I saw improvement in my ends. To do the trim, I plaited my hair in large plaits (about 10 over the entire head) and just snip the very ends of the hair. This works for me. I have started experimenting with homemade shampoos, and am researching what ingredients I need for my type. When I come up with something that is spectacular, then I will post the recipe. Right now, I only have some that works just as well as regular shampoo, but for me it was better than Wanakee.Anita is right, take a good multivitamin, eat plenty of green leafy vegetables, a good source of fiber, lean wholesome protein.Do some research on your hair type, and read up on what’s good for your hair.

I think your very natural approach to hairgrowth seems like a good one and one that will work.Although you know everyone seems to be looking for a quickfix.I let you know how it works out. Thanks again for your help.Good luck to you.

I did want to tell Trey, that I do have a tendancy to trade off on oil products. I don't use chemicals in my hair and it is thick and had a rather Polynesian texture. I said all this to say that I kind of go by the way my hair feels at a given time when I decide on what oil to use.A run down of what oils/products I use...jojoba (100% pure), coconut (either E. Indian type or a Polynesian kind called monoi), and the Wanakee. Rosemary and lemongrass are my essential oils of choice. As for the Wanakee shampoo I have never used it. My personal favorite shampoo is Motions. It's really nice on my hair. I also use Lousie Marie Longhairs products available on the web. LML leans towards more natural products and also work well w/ my African American hair.>I have I was NOT impressed>but the Wanakee stuff just lays there>on my scalp and hair. I did not like the products and>sent them back. That was about $75.This is only an a suggestion....if you are deciding to grow your hair out of a relaxer, you should kind of experiment around w/ products. Stay towards things that are pure (eg jojoba oil), but do look around. What works for some may not work for you..esp on natural hair. Example; Me cannot use Wanakee and I can't abide Pink Oil Lotion. I have worn my hair natural for most of my life so I can tell you that your hair will change as it grows from relaxed to natural especially if you have been getting regular relaxers for a long time (body chemistry changes etc..). You need to look around for things that work to your satisfaction. You should also not be afraid to try traditionally "white" products because you may find just what is right for your hair. Each type of oil is different IMHO: jojoba is a "drier oil", then coconut is a bit heavier, and olive oil is extremely heavy. You have to find what works best w/ your hair.>I use jojoba oil that I bought from a health>food store. I mix it with other essential oils when>needed, but that’s what I use on my and my 1 yr old>daughter’s head (that way I don’t have to worry about>preservatives and such). This is a really good thing to look at Trey. I'm happy Me told you about the jojoba oil thing (slipped my mind :0).>For>moisture I use a product called Parnevue leave in>conditioner.ME: where can one find this product?>To do the trim, I plaited my>hair in large plaits (about 10 over the entire head)>and just snip the very ends of the hair.Mostly I wear my hair in 6 plaits. My hair is always covered (religious reasons) so that's no prob for me, but maybe you (Trey) can do the plait thing at night while sleeping. It makes beautiful waves as well.>I have started experimenting with>homemade shampoos, and am researching what ingredients>When I come up with something that>is spectacular, then I will post the recipe.Me: please do.> Do some research on your hair type, and read up on> what’s good for your hair.Good advice to you Trey. Remember to also not be afraid to look around for products that you may like. Try different things. Maybe try some jojoba oil or go get some cocnut oil from the Indo/Pak store. Just try to buy your shampoos/conditioners for the dry hair type.My $.02....any more questions?Anita
