Why yes. I'm not very experienced with black hair so I feel silly answering your question. I guess maybe there has'nt been much demand for it in the 90's. For that reason, I bet you will see it make a come back within the next decade. What I do remember from the 80's was that the hair was straightened first then permed. A popular nickname for the look was "geri curl" I would love to experiment with this two step process now using something newer like Framesi Sillis straightener and follow it with a PATIVA perm. Wish I had some black people near me that I might learn more about working with highly textured hair. I live in rural Minnesota. We're talkin farm country!

> Is it possible for black ppl to get curly perms???> Come on you guys, tell me!! I wanna hear from some> ppl.To Shasta;Yes, Black people get perms. I am sorry that I am in the same boat as Paula, as I have almost no experience at this. One major difference is that (according to other people who are experienced) is that black hair seems to need a more 'aggressive' perm to be effective. Many black women opt for an 'uncurl perm', where the hair is wound on large perm rods and the perming solution is applied as in any perm, but the effect is to soften the natural kinkiness and turn it into a softer manageable curl. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. william
