I just read in a magazine that taking Evening Primrose Oil in a pill will help make your hair healthy because it's a fatty acid. Has anyone heard of this or tried it?
I don't know about that one in particular but fatty acid supplements are good for your hair.Shannon G.> I just read in a magazine that taking Evening Primrose> Oil in a pill will help make your hair healthy because> it's a fatty acid. Has anyone heard of this or tried> it?

Has anyone heard of this or tried> it?Hi, Roberta!Evening primrose oil contains essential fatty acids. It is excellent for your hair, skin and nails, actually. I am no expert on EFA's. I think Karen is your best resource, here.I have tried evening primrose oil and black currant oil. I like the latter the best and flaxseed oil even better. My hair is naturally dry to normal, while my facial skin is very oily. I would say that the primrose, black currant or flaxseed oil seems to do it's job where needed. All have made my hair softer and helped to regulate, rather than aggravate the oil on my face. The black currant and evening primrose oil seem to have lessened PMS symptoms, too, primarily bloating and irritability. The only problem which I had with the oils was finding a time to take them. Generally, it's recommended that you take the oils with meals. However, I could not tolerate this. I became extremely nauseated. I could ingest the oil on a relatively empty stomach.I have found that an alternative solution is to buy flaxseed oil and eat with some lettuce and tomato. This is easy and more digestible for me. I have also ground flaxseeds and sprinkled on a salad. Really nutty taste, but very pleasant.Take care.....Jade21
