QuoteReplyTopic: STRAIGHT PERM NOT WORKING!!! CLUELESS AND DON"T WANT TO SPEND MORE MONEY Posted: January 12 2000 at 4:34am
I recently got my hair chemically straightened and the stylist or whatever did the process, which was correct she applied the perm cream and then waited a while, rinsed that out, neutralizer, waited, but she shampooed the neutralizer are you supposed to wash it out with shampoo or just rinse with warm water?Anyways, I still have to apply a straightening gel every morning and I wanted my hair chem. straightened so that I could just relax and not have to worry about gels and hairdryers! It is still really curly and frizzy and not ANY better. So what do I do? Go to a different salon and have it straightened again, or is this just the way my hair's gonna take the chemicals?HELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mushi>>>I've been getting my hair Chem Straightened for years and my stylist never did that. First she mixed the neutralizer with the cream and then smooth it on my hair in sections to get it straight, then she waits a while, checks it again and then rinses it out, washes my hair with shampoo 3 times and dries and conditions.Usually all i do is flat iron it after my hair air dries with a moisturizer and it stays straight for week or so. Sometimes it needs a touch up here and there. Maybe you should try something to control frizzes or maybe you need a stronger relaxer. I use kemi oil with a flat iron or sometmes i wash and use frizease and sabastien potion 9. My hair frizzes up too.I hope this helps you.~*toya*~
Hi, Mushi!I am like..really confused!I would appreciate it if you would indicate the brand of relaxer which was used on your hair. Was it Revlon, Optimum Care, etc.?With a relaxer, the cream is applied to all the hair, if true virgin hair, or to the growth areas. It is not simply applied, left on and rinsed. It must be worked into the hair in varying degrees depending on curliness, coarseness and desired effect (i.e., bone straight, "dusting", etc.) Then, the cream is rinsed with warm water, a neutralizing shampoo is used two to three times, and then a conditioner is used. The strength of the relaxer is also important as Toya mentioned. Revlon Realistic formula, for example, makes three strengths, mild, normal and super strength. If your hair is extremely curly or coarse, you would use the super if you want fairly straight hair. You should not have to apply straightening gels to style your hair thereafter, assuming that the relaxer was effective for the desired result. HOWEVER, there are some people have hair which is extremely resistant to straightening chemicals. I remember a girl from Nigeria with whom I went to school who's hair was virgin, had a super-strength applied, and her hair returned to virgin state after a shower a few days later. She never had another relaxer. It is not unheard of. Also, the natural texture of your hair may react to one brand totally different than another.Just from what you describe, it sounds like the stylist did a poor job.Bye for now,Jade21I recently got my hair chemically straightened and the> stylist or whatever did the process, which was correct> she applied the perm cream and then waited a while,> rinsed that out, neutralizer, waited, but she> shampooed the neutralizer are you supposed to wash it> out with shampoo or just rinse with warm water?> Anyways, I still have to apply a straightening gel> every morning and I wanted my hair chem. straightened> so that I could just relax and not have to worry about> gels and hairdryers!
