This is what I read at a website (can't remember the URL-found it through a search engine):Sodium Lauryl Sulfate has an irritation index (rating) of 10 on a scale of 1-10. Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate has an index of 4.To me it sounds like ALS is much better for your skin and eyes, possibly even your hair. It just happens that all of the shampoos I have now have ALS-Aveda, Rusk, ect...I didn't do this on purpose, but my hair seems to like these shampoos. Before I went to ALS shampoos I used Goldwell Turbo Hydrating Shampoo, which has Sodium Laureth Sulfate, and I have to say it was one of the BEST shampoos I've ever used, even w/ SLES. I will buy it again, the only reason I am using the other brands is they were such a good deal, and I am trying shampoos and conditioners w/ the words moist or hydrating in their names. Sorry I rambled-Renee> Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate - is this as harmful as SLS> and SLES? I know that my Aveda uses this cleaning> agent- I thought theri products were "good"> for the hair?> CG
