I am 25 and Asian, my hair used to be really smooth and straight, I noticed, however, in the past few years that I find some strands that appear to be "kinking up". It used to be one or two, but now they appear to be a lot, so my hair no longer is smooth and straight. Does anyone know why this would happen? Is it age? It started to happen after I grew out my hair after buzzing it one inch around. Any hints to why this is occuring would be helpful and/or what I could to stop it.
Hi, Dagny! From what you have described, it sounds more like the variant strands are likely a result of the buzz cut and time. Many people experience changes in the texture and overall composition of their hair over time. I am 24 and can tell you that since my teens, I have been able to tell approximately where I am in my cycle by the appearance of my hair, skin and nails. Hormone levels and diet and nutrition, as well as things like stress or any other trauma to the hair have impacts on the hair. Some are dramatic and some are quite subtle. It depends on the individual.I also wanted to tell you that I have known people who have shaved all of their hair and the re-growth was not like the original hair. I remember a guy I knew in college whose hair was shoulder-length and he shaved it over the summer. His hair was ultra-straight. The re-growth was a mass of soft curls. What was interesting was that he was the only member of his family with ultra-straight hair. After the re-growth, he looked just like the rest of his family:) Nevertheless, others I have known have gotten the same hair on re-growth.One suggestion which I might make to you regarding the smoothness and texture of your hair is taking a supplement called silica. Silica can be found in many fruits and vegetables, the herb horsetail, and even brown rice, beer and sea algae. You can find it at a health food store or places like GNC or where vitamins/minerals/supplements are found. The product is not expensive and you usually take 2-3 caps or tabs daily, spread out throughout the day. If you are on any type of medications, be sure to check with your physician first. If you are allergic to grasses, avoid the horsetail herb, also called shavegrass. Instead, opt for a product like Solgar's Oceanic Silica which is derived from sea algae. You also get trace minerals with it:) So, no real loss. Silica also helps with extra shine for your hair.I hope this helps...Bye for now,Jade21>I am 25 and Asian, my hair used to be really smooth> and straight, I noticed, however, in the past few> years that I find some strands that appear to be> "kinking up".
