QuoteReplyTopic: Uneven red color. PLEASE HELP Posted: January 12 2000 at 5:27am
My natural hair color is dark brown, but I a color it medium blonde (Matrix So Color PA-B with 40 Volume). Yesterday I tried going strawberry blonde and ended up with two tone hair. I even did a strand test. I used Clairol Revitalique Dark Red Blonde with 30 Volume. 20 Volume didn't lift my roots at all. So now I need major help. My roots are all a dark red while the rest is what I was looking for, strawberry blonde, just a hint of red. Even if I can't get my roots to be as light as the rest, is there something I can do at home that will either fade the roots to not be so bright and dark, or even a coloring technique that will help everything blend. Please help. I know you all are going to say see a professional, but I first wanted to see if there was something I can do at home.Thanks.

Apply with a tint brush and work with small sections, checking often until the hair 'lifts' to a proper level.william

You could shampoo your hair with a striping shampoo that you would use to remove products, or even you dish washing liquid, but it fades it lighter. and trying to bleach just your roots and your not familar with it, you might get into a bigger mess. I would deffinately recommend at least going into a salon that has a good rep for color and talking to someone. if you came to me i would put a darker color on the strawberry blonde and match it up with your roots. That will more than likely be the easiet way.> Thanks.

If you would like to just even out the color have a specialist do it. I've been a color specialist for 4 years (as an educator) and believe me I have seen some major dissasters with do it at home kits. And with the solution to your color problem on the regrowth will require someone to be able to lighten the regrowth area without overlapping onto the shaft of the hair. It might be as simple as mixing 1 scoop bleach to 1 ounce 20 vol. cream developer with shampoo and applying with a brush or with bottle and thumb; but you will need someone to do it for you because it would be to hard for you to see it yourself. I hope it works out :o)
