Hi,I had posted previously how I could not see any color difference on my hair with the Madder Root shampoo and conditioner...well, guess what? After using both, shampoo and conditioner for about 3 weeks, I can definitively see a wonderful red glow on my hair! I guess I wasn't patient enough. Even at the ends of my hair where is darkest, I can see red glowing through. The conditioner doesn't seem to build up and weigh down my hair the way it does with supermarket brand products. Now my question is: The conditioner lists Henna as it's main ingredient, will this adversely affect any attempts at coloring my hair? I've heard horror stories about henna as a haircolor...Thanks!

Glad to hear the madder root is finally working for you! I was hopeful it would:). You are quite right to be wary henna. Not because henna is bad, but because if you choose to use a straight henna product, you should not subsequently use a chemical hair color, and expect good results. You may even have breakage! The good news, however, is that the Aveda Madder Root does not have enough henna to make it an issue, should you now or later decide to use chemical hair color. I have done this and had no problems whatsoever. Nevertheless, if you do decide to also use a chemical hair color, it would probably be best to use a clarifying shampoo before hand. Or see a professional to have any color done.I used to use the Madder Root shampoo & conditioner for several months, also getting chemical services (permanent color) done every once in a while and never had any problems.I think Aveda is a very thoughtful company, and would be sure to post any warnings or potential hazards of their product use, in conjunction with any salon services, such as color. In fact, I bet alot of customers specifically use their color conditioner to prolong the life of their chemically done hair color.
