To William and/or Others: HAIR COLORING QUESTION??

I have medium brown hair with a few golden highlights throughout. Over the years, I have occasionally color-treated my hair, but currently it looks very close to my original natural color as described above. I've always conditioned my hair with good products so my hair is in good shape, and looks healthy.I am interested in lightening my hair at home. I want a honey blonde color (or close to that) if possible. What do I need to use (without using a bleach double-process, since I'm concerned about damaging my hair) that would help me to get as close as possible to that color tone? I can't seem to find a good quality (not drugstore) "honey blonde" coloring product anywhere...they all seem to be ash blonde or golden blonde colors and I'm not sure if either of those would give me the honey tone I desire. Can anyone please give me some advice on what I should use, i.e., What colors, name of a good coloring product to use, and any other tips for this. I have quite a few beauty supply stores in my area or I can mail order if necessary. Thanx!
