Hi , About 6 months ago I cut my extremly long hair to my shoulders. I cut off my hair because it was colored and I am growing my natural dark brown out. The problem is my hair only grew about an inch so far. After a hair cut my hair usually grows so fast. The last hair cut I had was a couple inches below my shoulders and in 7 months it was an inch shy of my waist.I am on Depo prevera and one of the side effects is slow or no hair growth. I stopped getting the shot because I noticed my hair was not growing. Do you think the depo did this, or what. My hair is very healthy and I have been taking 600mg or biotin, to no avail. What is going on and what should I do? I figured my hair would be long by now! My nails are long, but not my hair. Please help me, this is frustrating. thank you

Hi SummerI dont know the effect of depo prevera on hair growth, but it may be related to your reduced growth. Since you are taking depo prevera, I would *urge you to consult with your doctor before taking any additional supplements (vitamins, minerals, or herbs)*! There are many out there, and I believe some do work. I like the Hair Formula 37 vitamin supplements and have found that they increase my hair growth (it's available through this website, on the marketplace). The exact ingredients are explained on the web site (www.thehair.com), so you can take this list to your doctor and ask him/her whether or not it's something you can take. ***Please consult with your doctor first!***Besides supplements, other techniques have been found to encourage faster hair growth. Specifically scalp massage, certain scalp oils (designed to stimulate the scalp), and hair brushes that act as scalp massagers/stimulants. These may be a better route for you than the above, if your doctor warns you against taking any supplements.I hope this is helpful to you. good luck :) silvie
