My natural color is a level 6 ash. I have had my hair colored a deep warm red. I actually asked for a lighter and more natural auburn color but this is what I got. I've been trying for this color for almost a year and have gone through several stylists with their own ideas! Now I'm thinking about going to a WARM strawberry blonde(maybe a dak blonde with warm red/golden tones is a better way to put it) and would like advice on how to do that. And, I want to do it safely, without extensive damage. In the mean time, I have been using Aveda color conditioner. Is anyone familiar with this product? My hair seems to loose movement and the soft texture is altered. Any advice on that would also be appreciated.

AnnAs for the first part of your question, I can tell you that to go from a deep warm red to more of a dark blonde w/red, you'd need a double process, becuase you'd have to lift out the darker color to go to a lighter color. That's not really something you should try at home. I realize you're probably frustrated with the results you've been getting from salons, but I strongly advise you go to one anyway. I've always found taking a photo of what you'd like is very helpful. It may also be worth going to a colorist, rather than a stylist, to get the very best results. One way to alter the color, and possibly lessen the damage to your overall hair would be to get highlights of the new color you want woven into the current color. It would also make for a nice, dimensional color effect, I think. But whatever you do, consult with your stylist/colorist first, and make sure he/she understands both your color concerns, as well as your concern that you not damage your hair unnecessarily. As far as aveda color conditioner goes. I use it, but not everyday. The color conditioners can be drying, especially on chemically treated hair like yours (or mine!). So I would try alternating the aveda with a moisterizing treatment or moisterizing conditioner. I like the Joico K-pak quite a bit.hope this helps :) silvie
