Is anyone familiar with a hair cutting technique that involves twisting small sections of hair and trimming ends that protrude? I have heard of this used as an alternative to getting trims at salons several times and wondered if this has any validity to it. I am trying to grow my hair out(who isn't, right?) and I'm unbelievably tired of stylists who have their own ideas of what my hair should look like. Please respond if anyone has any ideas on this subject. Thanks.Jess

Hi, Jess,Yes, I have heard of this technique, and I don't think there is anyone around me that does this. Maybe if you have a long hair specialist around you, they might do it. I know some people have posted on this board about having it done. You can do it yourself as well. I don't know if I would have the patience to do it myself, however.Good Luck.Clare

Hi,I do a variation of this on my own hair. What I do is set aside a little bit of time everyday (when I'm watching TV or listening to music) and snip off all the split ends and other visible damage that I can find. I don't do the twisting thing, I just separate out locks of hair and systematically do through them. I don't consider this an alternative to salon trims, though. I still go to my hairdresser every 2 to 3 months and get my hair trimmed to make sure that it is looks nice and not the least bit ragged. I just do this because I have to do something to keep the hairs that aren't long enough to be included in the salon trims (new growth) nice until they get long enough for that. My hair has been so much nicer since I started doing this. I really reccommend it. Keep on getting regular trims, though, so that your hair will be even. Also, be sure to use good sissors for this. You can get haircutting sissors at the drugstore or a beauty supply store.Erika> Is anyone familiar with a hair cutting technique that> involves twisting small sections of hair and trimming> ends that protrude?
