Dear all,Help! My hair is naturally dark brown. It has been stripped to red recently. A dark auburn was applied, and itlooked great. Now that the white and black roots are in,I tried to apply color to them but it doesn't take. Am I supposed to bleach the roots each time before applying color to them. I don't know what I am doing, please help me.Thanks Tyara
HI Tyaraif sounds to me like what you need to do is a double-process: bleaching the root area, tehn applying color to that area, then (for less time) to the whole hair length. In general, double-process is not something you want to do at home. It's too tricky and easy to make a mistake. I suggest you go back to the place you originally went for your color. Also, William (famous pro of this board) has excellent advice on hair coloring and techniques. His article is on this web site--you may want to look it up. It explains all the different processes in hair coloring and why some are more conplex than others.good luck :) silvie
Hi Silvie, thanks for the advice, I really can't go back to the hair stylist cause it was so expensive, I can't afford to keep it up. I will have to take my chances and do it myself, well with a friend helping me. Silvie, thanks so much for the tips. I guess I should buy a blonding kit, right? and then a color to go all over the head.:)tyara
Hi TyaraI totally understand about the expense of going to the salon. I'm often in the same boat. I would, however, strongly recommend that you read william's hair coloring tips before you begin. Here's the url:http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip095.htmHe explains all the different hair coloring techniques and what to look for in the store to get the hair color results you want. You may even want to do a search on this site to see some of the advice/tips he's specifically given to women who ask for hair color advice. Some are similar to yours. You may even want to email william directly, explaining to him exactly what it is you want to do. I've noticed he's extrememly responsive and helpful. In any event. do get a friend to help you out. I hope all goes great for you. best wishes :)silvie
