QuoteReplyTopic: Olive oil as pre-shampoo leave in conditioner... Posted: January 12 2000 at 5:54am
Hello everyone...I wanted to ask a few questions to anyone who might help.I have very dry hair at the lengths, an oily scalp, but very dry and crisp lengths. A friend of mine said to apply some olive oil to my hair all through the lengths and leave it in for about 20 minutes before taing a shower and shampooing. I wanted to ask these questions..1) How effective is this and what do you think?2) How much oil should I actually apply?3) Does it create problems to wash out?I would greatly appreciate it if anyone helped me...THANKS!Diego

DiegoI haven't heard anything about olive oil but I have heard that safflower oil is suppose to be excellent for dry ends. I was told that it is the same oil that is in your scalp. And to do it when your hair is dry and only a few drops. It is suppose to restore the moisture into the hair that doesn't touch the scalp.> Jodi

Olive oil is great for dry hair! It has done a lot for my hair. Be generous with the olive oil, but don't put so much on that it all drips out. Wash with a very mild/gentle shampoo (I usually use Nature's Gate), and you'll probably have to lather twice (then condition as usual). If you warm the oil before putting it on dry hair, it'll be the most effective. Let us know how it works for you!> Hello everyone...I wanted to ask a few questions to> anyone who might help.> I have very dry hair at the lengths, an oily scalp,> but very dry and crisp lengths. Yes, olive oil is great! I agree with everything Jen said on that regard. BTW, you might want to put a shower cap on while you are doing this treatment to keep the oil from getting everywhere.Erika> Olive oil is great for dry hair! It has done a lot for> my hair.
