QuoteReplyTopic: Seaweed Salad - To Jade21 & Karen Posted: January 12 2000 at 6:00am
Hi everyone this is my first time at the board. I had a question. For sometime now I have been scanning the message board for information on how to grow my hair. I managed to pick up some great tips. However, there are several messages on the board where Jade21 made mention of seaweed that she eats, in this message Jade21 said that Karen had given here the recipe, and that it could be pick up at Frest Fields. I went there and found that they had two seaweed salads and seaweed in a pack that looks like it was sun dryed or something. The question is which of these where you guys refering to and what is the recipe? I would like to try and make it. Thanks
Hi, Jen!Welcome to Hair Boutique and I hope you will post often. So many people help each other here and it's always a pleasure to have new folks.About the seaweed salad. Actually, Karen did not give me any recipe in relation to seaweed salad. I purchase the seaweed salad in the fish department from my local Fresh Fields/Whole Foods store. I found this to be an excellent way of getting the trace minerals from the sea. I could not take kelp tablets, which Karen recommended for hair growth, because they acted as a laxative on me.The salad to which I refer is the fresh salad which has been frozen for transport. The sun-dried varieties which Fresh Fields also carries in another department, if I am correct in what you have written, are freeze-dried in a package with a variety of choices available, brown to purple seaweed. You can sprinkle these in soups and salads. Some people use these as a salt substitute. I don't use these, but I am sure that you could try them. The principle is the same and the fact that they have been freeze-dried is good because the nutrients are intact.A friend of mine recently told me about a place in Maine where she gets these seaweed chip snacks. She likes them a lot and they are very nutritious. She did a search on the Internet. I have yet to try these. But, I would definitely recommend the fresh-frozen seaweed salad from Fresh Fields/Whole Foods. It is a tasty delight with a touch of onion, garlic and red bell peppers. I was constantly snacking on that salad. I think I must have had at least 1 and sometimes 2 servings per day. I credit the salad to my friend the fisherman from British Columbia. He gave me the sample and recommended it highly just for a great snack. Yes, the fisherman from British Columbia also works at the fish department at Fresh Fields/Whole Foods. I miss him these days because he's gone back to sea:) He definitely knew his fish:)Hope this helps...JadeHi everyone this is my first time at the board. I had> a question. Hi and welcome to Hair Talk & Hair Boutique. What I do is buy Nori at Whole Foods and crumble it up into my salads and that works great. I also have become so fond of Nori that I will eat it right as it is from the sheets and I love the taste. It does have a very fishy taste though and takes a little getting used to. However it works. For people who don't want to eat the seaweed, you can buy Kelp tablets at Whole Foods or other health food stores and that works well too.Hope that helps.Best wishes & visit us often.Karen> Hi everyone this is my first time at the board.
