Hi, everyone :)Okay, you people are probaly tired of hearing daily updates to the continuous soap opera of "As Maria's Hair Turns" , but after a terrible week of the evil itchies and my scalp feeling awful I tried something new. What did I do? I tried not shampooing for a few days and you know what? It seems to be making my scalp feel a LOT better. I still have the itchies a tiny bit, but my scalp no longer feels terrible. Maybe my doctor was right. Maybe she was right recommending me not shampooing every day. Also, maybe my scalp isn't as oily as I thought it was but a combination of both oily and dry and I made things worse by shampooing every day for years (Actually I used to be able to shampoo every day and found my scalp felt better shampooing every day. However that was in my twenties and now I'm in my early thirties. Skin changes!) Whatever it is, I think I will continue only shampooing every other day (and maybe trying to go two days without shampooing on the weekends). It seems to be helping my scalp feel a lot better. I think maybe, just maybe, I found part of the answer to my little scalp turmoil. Anyways, thanks for putting up with me,listening, and all your help. I really appreciate it!*Hugs*Maria Related Link:Maria In Mass

Hi Maria,I'm new to this board and just read your post. I wash my hair every three days on average, sometimes four. I was a hairdresser when I was around 20 (am now 31), and can assure you from what I learned and from my own experience, that washing your hair too often is not always a good idea. Washing your hair daily, no matter what shampoo you use, strips them from their natural oils, which they do need. I never believed in shampooing daily, and my hair is strong, thick, and grows like crazy. I have done all kinds of torture treatments to my hair (colors, highlights, etc), but it gets back on its feet very quickly. And trust me, I don't walk around looking like a dirtbag, I'm very clean. Your hair will get used to not being washed so frequently, and you will see by yourself that it won't NEED shampooing daily after a while.I'm happy you discovered by yourself that shampooing daily is not good (at least not for everyone). Too bad you had to find out the hard way. This could be an important warning to the other readers.Ciao!Rachel
