I am about ready to cut it all off, I am so fed up with my hair! I have baby-ed it with all kinds of "Special professional" products (READ: expensive), spent hours trimming my ends, even tried regular store-bought vitamins ... I still have split ends - on some strands even 3 splits in an area!! It's true that I did get a perm, but that was over 6 months ago! My hair is not growing and because of the split ends, it gets shorter, which is NOT what I want. It doesn't have much elasticity that I can see. But, in all honesty, it doesn't look damaged or even feel damaged. I cannot stand this - WHAT can I do? ps - regular trimmings aren't working. Please respond.
I'm sorry to say, but if you want to get rid of the split ends, you MUST cut, cut, cut. That's the only way you are going to get rid of those split ends. And I know you are trying to grow your hair out, but wouldnt you rather cut it and let it grow out healthy?
Hi Joy :)I am not a haircare professional, but as a someone who's strived for healthy hair all my life and a past hair product junkie (Salon, drugstore, supermarket hair products. I think I've tried almost all hair care products out there.), I would like to make a recommendation to you. These hair products won't cure the split ends. Unfortanately, no product out there can cure those. The only way you can cure those are by cutting them off. However these hair care products (Along with good nutrition, vitamins, and proper hair care) could help your hair be the hair you always wanted it to be: healthy, soft, shiny hair. The hair care products I'd like to recommend to you are Aubrey organics. Like I mentioned before, I've tried almost every shampoo out there and I have ultra thick coarse long hair which is normal to dry as well as very sensitive scalp that usually drives me up the wall LOL. I've been using these products now for two weeks and it took a few days to see the difference, but my hair is starting to look healthy again. Aubrey Organic shampoos have made my hair very soft, shiny, full of body, and most important to me my sensitive scalp which was giving me problems only a short time ago, is now feeling a lot better and is almost normal now (A GIANT thank you Jade for the recommendation to try Aubrey Organics Selenium Blue Shampoo-it has calmed down my scalp considerably and the itch and irritation are now practically non existant. I'm really happy about this!!). These products are 100% natural and this is a hair care line you can feel good about using (Their Natural & Herbal Skin Cleanser is also the best skin cleanser I've ever used. I have sensitive and oily skin that usually stings and has the tendency to get irritated, but this stuff doesn't bother it at all. It feels so nice and soothing when you apply it and your skin seems to stay clean for hours. It's GREAT stuff!). If you would like to learn more about Aubrey Organics I encourage you to visit their website at the following URL:http://www.aubrey-organics.com/If you have any questions about Aubrey Organics or would like some recommendations (Note: I've only been using Aubrey Organics hair care products for two weeks now and highly recommend Selunium Blue Shampoo because that's the product I've been using the last week and a half but I'm sure some others here can recommend other AO products to you too), we will be happy to answer them to the best of our knowledge. Meanwhile, please don't give up on your hair and lose hope. Keep working with your hair and if you need encouragement, come here and we will try to help you. Okay? Hope I helped you. I know how it feels to become a little frustrated and irritated with hair and scalp and believe me, I've been there. Hint: Try Aubrey Organics. It might work for you too. You never know unless you try. Good luck Joy and please let us know how you and your hair are doing, okay? :)*Hugs*Maria :)Related Link:Maria In Mass

Hi,I am so sorry to hear of your problems. There is nothing worse than hair that will not cooperate. My hair goes nuts every once in awhile and for a variety of reasons. I understand how frustrating it is to spend lots of money on your hair and then still not have it do what you want. One thing that I always try when I am at my wits ends is olive oil conditioners. In fact I recently went to the most expensive day spa in Dallas and the hairstylist that I went to.....specifically for a head massage....told me that I should do a home olive oil treatment. It was amazing. Here was this guy that does very expensive hair treatments telling me to use plain old olive oil. But he is right. It works. In fact, I am currently out in Northern California on business (as I write this) and I have had a wonderful time doing hot oil treatments to my hair in the evenings. In fact, I called room service at my current hotel and asked them if I could get an order of olive oil with my dinner. I didn't bother to tell them WHY I wanted it or they would have thought me nuts...but anyway....I heated the olive oil by placing it in a bowl of very hot water and then dabbed it on my ends and middles of my hair. I braided my hair and left the braid in for 2 days. I pinned it up for my meetings and no one was the wiser..although I guess they are now. :-)I washed my hair and it turned out really soft and shiny..after 2 days of olive oil.However...I will say....that any chemical treatments can alter the hair so that it just does not feel right or act right until all the chemically treated parts grow out. I would suggest that you follow your heart and do what is best for you.If you feel that cutting it is the only way to feel better about your hair....do it. I know what it is like to have hair that just feel yucky.Split ends can never be repaired. To move ahead you have to have them trimmed. There is no other way.Try the olive oil treatments. All you need is extra virgin olive oil and a plastic shower cap. Heat the oil to warm...not hot...and apply to your damaged hair parts. Be careful not to apply to your scalp area though. I try to stay about 1 inch away from the scalp. If you have a clothes dryer, take a warm towel right out of the dryer and wrap over the plastic shower cap. Leave on your hair for at least 1 hour. Longer if you can. Then shampoo with a moisturizing shampoo. I have had great luck with Aveda Shampure, ARTec Smoothing and Aubrey Honeysuckle Rose. Then do a rinse out conditioner. I have also had great luck with Aveda Curressence, ARTec Smoothing and Aubrey Honeysuckle conditioners. Do a final rinse of cool/cold water which seals in all the good conditioning you have done...unless you have oily hair..then do warm rinse.Let you hair air dry and see what you think. If it still feels horrible to you or just not right...get it trimmed and start over. You have no idea how many private emails I get from people who have suffered hair damage as the result of chemical treatments that were not done properly (left on too long, not done by a skilled stylist, etc.,). So I have to warn people to be careful when they get any chemical service. Make sure that the person applying the chemical product is very experienced in what they are doing. The number one problem with chemicals is that they are left on the hair too long or they are too strong for the hair type.Hope that helps. Thanks for sharing with us. I totally understand your frustration. Remember, do what works best for you and your hair.Best wishes,Karen> I am about ready to cut it all off, I am so fed up> with my hair! >Ouch!!, I so sympathise my hair has a evil turn every 6 to 8 months of turning into dried up straw, so I do as Karen said & use olive oil (extra virgin- really light as I sleep with it in )I mix equal parts of olive & jojoba & gently work it through Dry hair then lightly brush & leave it on for at least 6 hours, then shampoo with a moisture shampoo & conditioner, I love Keune as it has Shea Butter, then if all else fails I get yet another trim, my hair was chemically damaged(over processed with a Tint of all things), it has taken me 2 years of hell & it still goes mad now & then- worse when I stress myself crazy (most of the time!!).Good Luck,Simone.(C).Hi,> I am so sorry to hear of your problems. Please respond.I hope this might help you....after working for many years as a professional I have seen just about everything! You have mention in great lengths many problems with your hair which sounds as if your health could be a issue...have you had your thyroid check or perhaps had stress such as death in the family, divorce, etc., all plays a very important role in our hair; diet is very important. Your new growth should be normal even tho' your ends still might be splitting due to damage from a chemical product, throughout this board I have noticed alot of complaining of chemcial products damaging the hair.....if the stylist keeps your hair ph balanced in between chemcial services this would not happen. If you are just going for color, perm. foil etc. and have not condition you hair with protein and moisture before your service this is not the stylist problem...we cannot help if you don't tell us what you have been doing with your hair. I always have a consultation before I do any services to anyone .... this is very important! What your friend did to your hair 3 months ago still is going to be in the hair shaft....what you used to shampoo or condition will also help the stylist understand....we are trained to help YOU! Many facets play into a person's crown of glory...good luck to you!
Having read about Wanakee's hair care regimen I came to understand that ends rub against our clothes etc. etc. and that hair that is long enough to rub against these things should be worn UP as much as possible, 99% of the time.Joy, try this. It will work. And oil those ends as you wear your hair up. Ask them (www.wanakee.com) how long your hair should be before you can start wearing it down say 50% of the time. Good luck and let us know your results like after 3 months from now!
Vanessa is it that you want to know how to do the twist deal that every one does? Well I am going to tell you the best that I can. the way that I do it is:1. part your hair down the middle. 2. spray it with hair sray at the part.3. then part it again on the side and make a big chunk of hair spray it and twist it tightly and do the same on the other side. I usually do four of them two on top and two on the side. USE ALOT OF HAIR SPRAY TO MAKE IT STAY Oh I forgot the most important part. To make it stay put boby pins inside of the twist from the back of your twist. I tryed the best I could. hey e-mail me if you don't understand ok. Amanda. Michigan> DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DO TWISTIES
