I need a new "do"

I've been growing out my hair for about 6 months and it is just now a little longer than my shoulders. Unfortunately my hair is also very fine and somewhat curly/wavy... not enough to actually look good, you understand, but just enough to either be frizzy or curl in unwanted directions. Now I'm ready for a new haircut, but I don't know what style to get. My face is round... and I do mean round... and I tend to look like a Peanuts character if my hair is too short. I'm also a mom who stays home now, but will be starting a law career soon. So I need something that is easy to maintain, but doesn't look messy. Anybody have any ideas at all? I'm desperate! Thanks. :-)
