Is it customary for your hair stylist to give (or sell) a bottle of the color that they used to do a hair coloring on your hair so you can have some for touch-ups?I've heard of salons doing this, but mine won't. Thanks!

Thats why you go to a profesional salon to get it done instead a drug store to buy it. Thats also how to keep clients coming back.

How this came up was, two friends of mine have told me in the past (one fairly recently; the other about a year or so ago) that when they went to their salons to get a full head coloring their stylists gave them (or sold them) a bit of the color for touching up. I also wondered why would a stylist do that, but both had been going to the same person for a long time so I thought the stylist was just being very nice to long-time customers. Then, I went to get my hair colored for the first time by my stylist who had been cutting my hair for some years now, and she happened to bring up (I hadn't said anything about it) that she knows a lot of salons that will give (or sell) a small amount of the color they used to color their clients hair for the next months touch-up, (after that the client would have to return for re-coloring) but my stylist said that she doesn't do that because she can't guarantee the results since they are "professional colorants" so she said she feels too uneasy about doing such a thing. So, I wondered if any one else had heard of or experienced this.
