Aaron, check out www.naturallycurly.com. I am a member there and it is an EXTREMELY helpful site for people with curly hair. It contains an extensive message board with a wealth of information. When you go there, click on "Curltalk" on the home page, then click on "Newbies Welcome." It'll explain how to navigate the site. Then just register with a username and password and jump in on the curly hair discussions. Be sure to use the search feature before posting any questions, though. Chances are, there have already been several in-depth discussions on any curly topic you can think of.Hope this helps, and hope to see you at naturallycurly. :)

They are excellent. Before you go for a relaxer, try Mizhani products. I am not African-American, but I have used these products in the past with much sucess. They are made for African-maericans who perm (read: strighten) their hair.) You can get them at saloons for African-Americans. You need to focus on building protein in your hair. Don't use shampos with sodium lauryl sulfate (try Aubrey organics) and spend some time once a week doing a good quality hair mask. You will have to spend time investigating hair products and a rountine (hair mask, how often you wash, how to style) but once you have that down, you will be able to wash and go. Good luck!
