QuoteReplyTopic: Help with "hairdresser speak"--and will the cuts work with bangs? Posted: January 12 2000 at 6:12am
The recent issue of "Fitness" magazine has two medium-length bobs which look really cute, but I have a couple of questions before I rush off to my hairdresser.1. My hair is a bit longer than chin length in front and longer in back, with thin bangs anda few short layers around the face. Both of these are shorter in back than front (which is fine) but have no bangs or layers around the face. Will the styles work with bangs?2. Both cuts look pretty much like basic blunt cuts to me, with perhaps a little layering at the ends on Lisa Kudrow's bob (the shorter of the two). Both have instructions for your hairdresser. The longer bob says to cut it shorter in back and texturize the ends. For Lisa Kudrow's bob, the article says to ask for a shredded bob, not a blunt cut, cut shorter in back, with lots of undercutting. (Yeah, my hair occasionally looks shredded, all right, but I don't think that's what the author had in mind.)Can anyone translate this for me? If I have the cut, and don't like the "shredded" or "texturized" ends, how much will I have to cut off to go back to a basic blunt cut? Thanks.Janet
