I was cursed with thin, lifeless hair. I'm 42yo now and have never found a stylist that I really like. I'm sure part of the problem is just my BAD hair, which is now a little past shoulder-length, all one length, except for the bangs. Even though straight hair is in style, I can't let mine dry naturally--it has no body at all--it just hangs & the bangs flop in my face. It's as flat as a pancake! So I still have to blow dry, using round brushes, and then I use a hot curling brush (could never use a curling iron--the hair just slides right off of the rod!). If I don't use hairspray, there is NO style left by the time I walk outside, so I'm still using lots of hairspray, which weighs the hair down but helps me keep some sort of style. Does any of this make sense? I'm so frustrated, and every stylist I go to can't do anymore with it than I can. My current stylist spends more time chatting on the phone when I'm in her chair that she does working with my hair. Anyway, does anyone have any new advice for a styling, suggestions for a good haircut for my type of hair, or suggestions of good products (most of the volumizing products I try don't even add volume)? I would greatly appreciate it. Also, if anyone is familiar with Virginia Beach, can you recommend a stylist who knows how to work with a limp mop???? Thank you in advance!!!

Thank you in advance!!!Hi,First of all, I would suggest you definitely find a new stylist. I am not familiar with the area, but that behavior to me is just rude. You deserve to have the stylist to concentrate on you and your hair. After all, that is what You are PAYING her to do.I don't know what products you are using, but you might want to consider the Artec Volumizing products. Watch out for products that are too "heavy" and weigh your hair down. Also, if you not already doing this, blow dry your hair upside down. This tends to give it more volume. I have found that curling irons and brushes, etc. tend to "flatten" the hair, so you might want to consider going without and see what happens, or maybe just use on the bangs.Another good styling/ conditioning product is Aveda Confixor. It does not weigh the hair down. You also might want to consider learning some techniques like french braiding, as an option for those days when your hair doesn't seem to want to "do" anything.Hope this helps.Regards,Clare

> julie,I too, have very fine hair. My guess is that it's also oily, as most fine hair is. My suggestion would be to not use any shampoos with conditioning agents in them, and to clarify with Neutrogena anti-residue at least twice a week. Conditioners should have no dimethicone or silicone in the ingredient list, as this weighs hair down. It helps to alternate shampoos and conditioners, as well as styling products. I like Salon Selectives 15 hair gel, it works great! Also, it sounds like your hair could benefit from teasing at the roots, not a lot but just enough to add a lift to the top of the hair. And goodness gracious, please go to another stylist-yours is being rude and acts unconcerned for you or your hair. Good luck from another fine-haired girl.
