QuoteReplyTopic: How do you use a diffuser? Posted: January 12 2000 at 6:21am
I had a new hairstyle yesterday, which I love. I normally blow dry my hair flat but it is naturally thick with a wave. The new stylist said he thought it would suit me much better not blow dried and used a diffuser. It looked wonderful - and suits me much better than the flat styles I am used to.He made it look simple, but I have never used a diffuser before. Can anyone tell me how best to use one?Thank you!

I have used a diffuser for years, they are great for wavy or curly hair. I assume you are going for a natural curl or wavy look. I use an alcohol free gel on my damp hair and use my fingers to scrunch and gently arrange my hair approximately where I want it. Then I use the heat and gentle air from the diffuser to dry it, just using my fingers to arrange the curls where needed. YOu can either gently squeeze and scrunch your hair as you dry it, or just lift it carefully to direct some air underneath as well as the top. Just remember not to overdry your hair. I usually just damp-dry it and put a couple of clips in to hold the shape until it air dries completely. Dry just until it looks good, then try not to touch it after that. Good luck, you'll get the hang of it, it's easy! It's really just letting your hair do its own thing.> I had a new hairstyle yesterday, which I love. > Thanks for the tip! Can you recommend an alcohol-free> gel?Currently I am using Aussie Natural Gel. It's a light hold product that doesn't leave my crunchy like some firmer hold products. my style doesn't need a lot of hold. If you need more hold, I believe Aussie also makes a gel with firmer hold. Check out the site at naturallycurly.com, they have product reviews and a message board where folks talk about styles and products, lots of good advice. Keep us posted!
