I have never been happy with my hair cuts, I did find one stylist who was very up to date and trendy, but she has relocated. My problem is I have very very thick, coarse and stubborn hair. I go for styles that are wash and wear. It is very difficult to find a good stlyist who listens. I also have a low hair line in the back with cowlicks. I had a hair cut 2 months ago where I told the stylist this repeatedly and she landed up cutting my hair too short in the back and we had a very ugly hair line situation. I tried a new stylist last week, she hilighted my hair through a cap, and it looked great, you could tell where the hilights were, now they don't seem as vibrant. For the cut,she just used scissors to razor cut out chunks of my bulky hair, like thinning. Which Ithink is what this thick hair needs. It is much easier to dry, but the ends seem too thin now, and the hair does not lay properly. So I have to fight with it, which I hate. My sister says I need to stay with one stylist so they can get use to my hair. When I go next time, what do I say? This stylist seems like someone who does not like to be told anything. Do I ask her not to thin as much? Do I ask about the hilights fading?Tipping....if one girl washes, another helps take care of the color, and yet another dries...plus the stylist....who gets tipped and how much? I had 4 different people working on my hair.

I had 4> different people working on my hair.that is problem most times stylist do not listen to what client wants, and yes i agree with your sister find one stylist your happy with and stick with them, as for tipping figure out a price and have them split it. that is problem with some salons too many doing your hair
> I had the same problem. But I ended up going to a salon one day and the person didnt have to much experience in the kind of cut I wanted but she told me she cuts like that all the time any way I went ahead and did it and as soon as it was finished I looked and she had chopped 3/4 of my hair off it was above my ears. I started to cry and she asked me if I liked it and I told her I loved it. I couldnt tell her I didnt like it. So when I went to pay the manager came up to me and I explained everything to him and he just let fee go. But the point is It is your Hair You have the choice of what it is going to look like. You will be wearing it like that and dont let them tell you diff and tell them you want ONe person to be responsible for the hair not a million people. Because you never know what they dont know and they could totally screw everything up. So my advice is to tell them strait out how you want it cut and you want someone that knows what they are doing and it doesnt help to ask for a friendly person with a great attitude.. Remember you are putting your hair in there hands And as soon as they screw up it is for a great while. So really think about who will do your hair next. I found it to best to find a little town close to you and go to there small shop Not a big place like Cost Cutters or ect. thank you for your time reading this reply

I find that several styles work best. 1) very long hair, or shoulder length hair.I have just had a great cut to the shoulders and after many experiences like you found a great stylist who understood how to make the best of my hair.I don't know where you live, but if I were you I would ask friends or people you see in the street with thick coarse hair where they get it cut.Alternatively, be prepared to spend quite a bit for the first restyle to get it in the shape you want and then you can go to a cheaper salon just to copy it.
