QuoteReplyTopic: Hair color advice - best color for me Posted: January 12 2000 at 6:26am
Can you advice as to a good selection of hair color for me. I am 45 and have just above the shoulder length hair. It is fine and somewhat of a drab dark color. My skin is olive and I am slightly tanned. I have just a few strains of gray. Please help?
hiyou may want to consider getting your hair highlighted as opposed to doing an all-over color. the highlights will help to blend away your gray giving you a natural look and with less of an obvious root line (where your new hair grows in). you can do highlights in either a gold or ash tone, whichever best suits your complexion. i would consult with a good stylist/colorist to determine the best tonality (ash or gold). I suspect the gold would be very complementary with your complexion and skin tone.:) silvie

Why do you want to color your hair? I think natural color is usually the best color for you; besides, hair color damages the hair. Why not keep it healthy and natural!
I heard one way to determine what color to use is to look at the color of the flecks in your eyes. If you have no flecks, you can wear any color hair. If you have gold flecks, then use golden highlights, etc.But I wouldn't use permanent color on your entire head, if I were you. I just stopped after 8 years of damaging my hair. Either get highlights (they won't damage as much hair as often) or use a semipermanent color.Good luck!
