Is it possible to over-condition? Everytime I shampoo (every other day) I follow up with conditioner. My husband told me that I am over-conditioning and that's why my hair is always out-of-control. I have fine, dry hair and it is frizzy, and will not do what I want it to, which is to be as straight as a board. But since my hair is damaged, split-ends out the wazoo.... I just thought I was suppose to condition. Please help!
Your hair will feel heavy and dull if left for a long time.In my case I have oily coarse hair which I only condition twice a week.If I do it daily and rinsing off the conditioner my hair feels stiff and clumpy.Hope that helps.

A person posted a long time ago on HB Hair talk that she would use Nature's Gate Aloe Vera Conditioner as a PRE-conditioner. She would apply the conditioner, then rinse, then shampoo. She felt it weighed her hair down the other way around. (She was also using Abba shampoo, and Abba nourishing conditioner leave-in, a small amount, for when she blow dried. I believe she was experimenting with Vinegar and water final rinses for increased shine.
You might want to do some deep conditioning, and maybe a trim for those existing split ends. Try to keep blow drying down to a minimum, since trying to dry hair as straight as a board can be very damaging. (if you are doing that.)
If I had dry hair I would condition it after every shampoo too. Over conditioning could depend on the conditioner you're using. I noticed some leave my hair feeling yucky and coated and others are so light my hair ends up feeling squeaky if anything.
I find rinsing really well, slightly longer than you think you need to, helps with the residue problem. But like I said, some conditioners I've tried are just too heavy for my hair no matter how long I rinse and my hair ends up looking wacky.
Why don't you try not using a conditioner and see what happens.
Thanks to all of you that posted. I am going to try and stop using the conditioner for a while and see what happens. I've been using the VO5 jojoba shampoo & conditioner. I don't know if that conditioner weighs hair down or not. I like the shampoo. Thanks again.~s
Hi everyone! I notice that if you leave the conditioner on your hair for too long (eg 1 hour), your hair appears to be more dry and frizzy as compared to a quick condition. This has actually happened to me. Now, I just apply conditioner while I shower and wash it all off immediately after that.
Alternatively, you can try to spray a little leave-in conditioner before you sleep and when you wake up, your hair feels softer and more manageable.
