Hello all!,

I had a wonderful Conair curling iron that I just loved, but it recently shorted out on me! Does anyone know where I might be able to find something similar? (any brand name) Here`s a description:

Large barrell (like 1 1/2"?)
With teeth (the ones without teeth scare me!)

All the ones I`m finding now either aren`t big enough, or they don`t have teeth. Any help or ideas on where to find a new one would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Do you mean the one with the brush attachment? Conair still sells it on their web site for $27.25.

Is this the one you are looking for?

I`m afraid that`s not it. I actually looked all over the Conair site before coming here, and they don`t have it anywhere. The one I`m trying to replace is black, with a coral-colored barrel and black teeth. It has 15 temperature settings. Guess it`s gone. But this one might work pretty well in it`s place. As long as it`s a curling iron and not just a round dryer. Thanks for the link! I think Wal-mart and Target have this one - I`ll take a look next time I`m there.

Conair no longer makes one that big. The demand for ones that big was very low. The biggest they make is a 3/4" model. Check the HairBoutique.com Marketplace for the complete line of Conair Curling Irons. If we don`t have it... then they don`t make it.

Sorry to hear about the death of your Conair - they are good products.

I found a 1 1/2 inch Vidal Sassoon with 25 heat settings ( but not teeth) at Amazon.com:

If you are looking for a brush iron, Helen of Troy makes a jumbo iron:

They also make a hot air brush:

Finally, Hot Tools makes a very good one:

I hope you are able to find just the right one for you. Good Luck! ;)

Bummer! I did not know that Conair stopped making the 1 1/2 inch curling iron. However, I have used the Helen of Troy and the Hot Tools irons mentioned earlier. I liked them both - very good products.

Right now, I have a Hot Tools one that be used to curl or straighten. It is a very nice appliance. I had the Hot Tools Red Hot for quite awhile (it is still around somewhere) but the new flat curling iron is more versatile. You can see pictures of both at:

Looks like you have a few choices now, Mitsu. Let us know what choice you make and how it works for you. Good luck!! :)
