Hi everyone! I am new to the board and I have been getting a full head of highlights for years now, professionally done. I am starting to get tired of the roots showing so quickly and the foils not being placed close enough by my ears and neckline so that hair ends up not getting lightened. I also am tired of the breakthough of my natural color. My natural color is a dishwater mousy blond.....nothing special.

I wanted to ask if anyone has used at-home color to achieve a nice blond. I was thinking of trying Loreal Preference, the color of Heather Locklear's hair or maybe a shade close to that. (Although I am sure Heather gets her hair done professionally :) ).
I wanted to see if anyone has used that and if they were successful. Also, maybe Loreal Feria, Garnier, or Clairol might be better?

I am so scared to just do it. Full highlights at a salon are starting to get expensive though! But, I am so scared that my hair will turn out brassy with these at-home color kits for blond color.

Any advice would be so kindly appreciated.

Thank you!
Gemini

Go to Sally's Beauty Salon and get hair color from there. They have many different products to eleminate brassiness. Personally I like L'Oreal Preference in Elegant Ash Blonde (8.01). It's not too ashy but it still gets rid of brassiness. There's also other products you can add to any hair color to help.
