Waiting time after coloring hair??

Hey everyone,
Quick question for you all. I have dark brown hair and tonight I tried to lighten it a bit. The color of hair on the box was much lighter but as it turns out it was almost exactly the same as my original color. So basically I colored my hair the exact same color...I feel like an idiot.

However, I do want a change. Just wondering how long I should wait before coloring it again. I am going to go dirty blonde or something waaay lighter next time. Any advice on how long to wait?

If your hair is in good condition, you should'nt have to wait...
And , oh yeah...If you deposited color from the last color you performed...don't forget the rule; Color does not lift color.
