I had light brown hair with just a few highlights and when i went to just do a touch up i used a very light neutral brown which was suggested, and my hair came out almost black, i tried everything i could to get this color out and its not getting lighter........Is there Anything i can use from a store to drop the color down? like use a dark blonde or will i just make a mess out of my hair, and how good is it to do something like that, OR should i just go to a specialist and have them do it. Its been a week and i can't stand the way i look one more day. Any help would be so appreciated. I was told that i could put a stripper paste on and leave it on for 1 hour and my hair would go to light orange and then i would have to redye my hair but im to scared that my hair will fall out.

Please see a pro colorist on this one.

It sounds like you got ahold of a bad box of color.

Store bought color is not regulated and watched over like salon color.....so Beware.

Did you do a strand test first? It would have warned you in advance what would happen if you went ahead and used the color.

Do call the company and tell them what happened. I agree, this situation calls for a professional. But at the very least they might offer you your money back on the hair color you purchased. Not much, I know, but at least you can use it towards helping to correct the problem.

So sorry to hear about this. Even if the color you chose would ordinarily darken hair, there's no way it should have come out like that. Let us know what happens.
