Advice please :D

I have shoulder length hair, previously highlighted but recently, (three months ago,) tinted very dark. My natural colour is light brown, and so unfortunately the combination of roots and dye which only ever started to fade looks a little bit iffy, lol. :D

Also, it looked infinitely better lighter.

It still seems to be in good condition. Does anybody have any advice as to what I should try with it? It is still dark, and if I were to try highlighting, (professionally,) would the streaks turn orange?
