Get rid of red tones

OK - here is my story

I decided I wanted to go darker blonde with my hair. I used natural instincts since it was a washout color - it came out dark brown with red highlights - now normally I love brown/red hair - but my complexion just doesn't look good with that color.

So after a month I died it back to light blonde - or tried to I should say -- using Clairol Nice and Easy -- it still has the reddish tones in it and I don't like it at all.

My questions is - how do I get rid of the red tones? Do I need a color that says either "ash" or "beige"?? Thanks for the help!
