I just got my hair dyed today with Redken Shades EQ semi-permanent dye... how soon should I wait before I wash it? The chemical smell is really getting to me but i don't want this great color to fade, does it make a difference?

It doesnt really make a difference since its dyed already. Probably maybe a day later after you dye it, is best.

ok thanks. I had heard somewhere that you should wait as long as you can before washing it to let the color completely penetrate the hair so thats why I was asking.

Be sure and use a shampoo for colored hair, this will keep from srtipping so much color, especially if your hair is brunette or red. Also, Matrix and Artec make some great color depositing shampoo/conditioner products that will help keep up your color if you find it's washing out too much.
CO wash only since September '04! Dyed red botticelli curls (3b), fine and just past shoulder length

Also, I use brands with more natural ingredients rather than salon formulas so that it has less of a smell. I don't remember any names right now, but it really helps!
